Rev W E Hurt gave his hearers a very interesting talk last Sunday afternoon, and by way of illustrating the extravagance of the present age, mentioned some of the folk . among his members of a different section in connection with the high price of dancing. Some of our people dance down here, but the cost from a money standpoint is not so high. Mr Samuel Y Tisdale bas been ^ quite sick, but we are glad to hear i of his improving. Messrs James and Bill Mullins of Cades were visitors last Sunday in the neighborhood, j Mr Eddie McCants of Kingstree I was down on a "new drive" Sunday afternoon. Mr Sam Brown of Kingstree. in driving down here, seemed to have quite a queer horse?it ran awhile and balked awhile. Miss Maude Chandler, who has been clerking in Stacklev's Dry Goods store, is at home. Mr Frank Snowden is at home for a few days. Mr John Bell has left for Georgia, where he expects to enter the turpentine business. ? ? - ~ 11 # m Mrs H W Kussenoi dooming vaic, and little son, Harry, have been visiting here at her old home during the past week. We were delighted to have Prof. 0 M Mitchell, principal of Union High school, and Miss Florrie Stubbs, one of his assistants?who had been in attendance upon an important school meeting in Florence ?remember us with a pleasant call on their way back to Rome. Messrs Rob Ervin, P D and S D Snowden, of the Indiantown section, passed through our community mroute to town yesterday and stopped a few minutes with us. I One evening last week a party of young folks attended a dance at Mr "J&iddy" Smith's, their mode of travel being a wagon fitted for a "straw ride." As one of the young ladies leaped from the vehicle she was bitten by a dog. The wound was sore, but proved not to be se^,-rious. It is well, young ladies, to "look before you leap." Mr R W McCutchen took a flying trip to Charleston one day last week, but he didn't use an aeroplane. Mr Wade Coker has had his membership of W 0 W transferred from Harper's camp to Cedar Swamp.
