I'lyler died suddenlv at his home, on Railroad lhll. in the town of Lancaster, early Monday morning last. It is thought that he died from paralysis, or heart trouble, lie had not been very well for a few days, but might be considered in Ins usual health. < >n account of the fact that he was not seen to die by any one, the coroner organized a court of inquest over his dead body, took testimony and inquired in'o the case of his death. After a short inquiry the jury rendered a verdict in accordance with the facts above stated. Mr. Plyler was in his 7Gth year, m * i was born and reared in Chesterfield county. He was twice married, and left surviving him one son aud two daughters by his former wife, aud a bereaved widow, to moruu his death. He was a local preacher in the Methodist church, and was fond of religious discussion. It is said that he was a most liberal contributor to the church at Trades 'ville, in this county, where he field membership,.and where he resided until within the last two months. lie was greatly de ighted with his move from Tradesville to Ban caster, and spoke often of his pleasant surroundings. He had a nice home, well furnished, and j was enjoyipg the same with the ! relish of much younger men. Mr. I'lvler was a good business i man. and prospered well in life. He accumulated a considerable amount of property, and was a | large money lender. It is said a few years ago, that there was some rivalry between him audi the late Turner Barber of this 1 # j county, as to which held the most i taxable property. One year Mr. j I I'lvler made the largest return of i taxable property of any man in! j the county, and the next year Mr. liar her made the larirest. return. This w;is laudable, for most men |endeavor to hide their property. I to avoid paying heavy taxes. Mr. Plyler was in some respects i | a remarkable man. The supreme court decide against the Richland count hoardvand ruled that the $(50.00 was to be apportioned among th counties which received a propoi tion of the former appropriatio from the dispensary profits. Th disbursement has been unavoidl detained, as the apportionmeu was to be based upon the popi; lation of 1895, and formation c new counties made these statistic hard to obtain, but the calculi tions have at last been finishet In addition to the $G0,0()0 ther is a surplus of $7,198.35 to th credit of the school fund whic will also be apportioned.
