The County Alliance met last
Friday, and notwithstanding the
farmers had had very little good
weather for I arm work, we had a
splendid meeting. A very full
meeting, showing that the alliance
principles are very strong in this
county. A great deal of interest
was manifested in the meeting.

in the town of Lancaster, early
Monday morning last. No one
saw him die. but ho rose out of

the hack lot. Some tune afterward,
lie was found, in a sitting
posture, in a little house, in the
cold embrace of death. It is
thought that he died from paralysis,
or heart trouble, lie had not
been very well for a few days,
but might be considered in Ins
usual health. < >n account of the
fact that he was not seen to die
by any one, the coroner organized
a court of inquest over his dead
body, took testimony and inquired
in'o the case of his death. After
a short inquiry the jury rendered
a verdict in accordance
with the facts above stated.
Mr. Plyler was in his 7Gth year,

was born and reared in Chesterfield
county. He was twice married,
and left surviving him one
son aud two daughters by his former
wife, aud a bereaved widow,
to moruu his death. He was a
local preacher in the Methodist
church, and was fond of
religious discussion. It is said
that he was a most liberal contributor
to the church at Trades
'ville, in this county, where he
field membership,.and where he
resided until within the last two
months.
lie was greatly de ighted with
his move from Tradesville to Ban
caster, and spoke often of his
pleasant surroundings. He had a
nice home, well furnished, and
j was enjoyipg the same with the
! relish of much younger men.
Mr. I'lvler was a good business
i man. and prospered well in life.
He accumulated a considerable
amount of property, and was a
| large money lender. It is said a
few years ago, that there was
some rivalry between him audi
the late Turner Barber of this

county, as to which held the most i
taxable property. One year Mr. j
I I'lvler made the largest return of i
taxable property of any man in!
j the county, and the next year Mr.
liar her made the larirest. return.
This w;is laudable, for most men
|endeavor to hide their property.

Mr. Plyler was in some respects i
| a remarkable man. He was j
| somewhat rough and uncouth (
| in his manner?, beeause he |
j was raised in a region of counj
try where the people, in hiei
j boyhood (.ays, had but few advan- J
tage?, and were, for tho most i
I part, deprived of many of the |
comforts of life. Hut he had a l
kind heart, strong common sense i
and good mother wit, which he j
used with oonsiderable success.

Llis friends here who were ac-1
commodated by him, with the,
loan of money in times ot need,
will greatly miss him and will
scarcely find a better helper. The
remains of the deceased were interred
at Tradesville, his old'
