RALEIGH, August 13.-The Demo oratio ate Convention assembled to-day m large force, in Tucker Hall, at 10 o'clock A. M. The Convention was. called to order by Hon. Thos. Bragg, and James Davis, Esq., of Franklin, was chosen temporary Chairman, and Messrs. Gales and Engelhard, Secretaries. Mr. Davis, on taking the Chair, addressed the Convention in an appropriate speech. A committee was appointed upon permanent organization. In the ab sehoe of the committee, Hon. Josiah Turner, Jr., was loudly called for, who responded in a seething speech. The committee reported, recommend? ing C?h R. H. Cowan, of Wilming? ton, ; as permanent President, with seven'vice-Presidents from tho seve? ral Congressional Districts. Col. Cowan addressed the Convention at length, in on able speech. Over seventy Counties of the State are represented. Several hundred dele? gates are in attendance. A Commit? tee of Fifteen, on resolutions and the nominations of electors for the State at large, -was appointed. Judge Os? born, of Mecklenburg, and James J. Davis, Esq., of Franklin, were appointed electors for the State at large. Messrs. Robins, Graham, Biggs, J. C. Dobbin, and others, ad? dressed the Convention. The city is full of visitors. Great harmony and enthusiasm prevails.
