A fashionably dressed woman chooses 'her gloves to suit the occasion and her en semble. When considering a glove for costume coordination, there are definite things that must be con sidered:'is your ensemble plain or detailed, what is its sleeve length, what type is it-sporty, daytime, late afternoon, or eve ning? Plain Styles If the costume is detailed, wear plain styles; wear novelty styles if the costume is classic. For those who have wondered about types of finger stitching, there are two main types: the French-seam finger, in which the seams are on the inside or wrong side of the glove; and the hand sewn finger and its variations, in which the finger seams are stitched on the outside, giving the fingers a boxy look. Perfectly Correct Either of these types is per fectly correct, although the French-seam finger is considered more formal. There are eight basic glove lengths - three short and five longer. The shortest comes im mediately to the wrist, below the wrist bone; the regular shorty glove covers the wrist bone; and the next length shorty comes ap proximately two inches above the wrist. Gauntlet Glove The four button or gauntlet glove, the six button, eight but ton, twelve button, and sixteen button make up the longer style gloves. A recommended guide to glove fashion follows: With the sports or long sleeved costume, a wrist or regu lar shorty; for the daytime sleeveless dress, anything from a wrist shorty to an eight button glove is appropriate. Short Gloves The short gloves or a four or six button glove Is worn with a mid-arm sleeve. With the three quarter sleeve dress the shorties or the four button is lovely. The "long" shorty and the four, six, eight, and twelve but ton gloves can be worn with late afternoon outfits. For evening, the wrist and regular shorties, and the eight, twelve.and sixteen button gloves are correct. With late afternoon and eve ning costumes the jeweled glove is excellent.
