A student is allowed four un excused absences. The intent Is not to give four free, cuts, but these absences are to take care of emer gencies, not given on page 12 of the "Carolina 'Community" for which absences are Issued, Dean Penney said. The fifth unexcused absence drops a student from class. On all other courses above the basic ones 75 -per cent attendance is required. Class attendance is the student's reep6nslbility and it is not intended that he should cut the class 25 per cent of the time, Dean Penney added. However, on these courses a student wil' .be dropped when he has used his 26 per cent cuts with a grade of FA. Normally, .12 cuts are considered 25 per cent of a three-credit course and 14 cuts are considered 25 per cent of a four-credit course, Dean Penney concluded.
