Every well-droeed worm an
wears gloves. A fashionably
dressed woman chooses 'her gloves
to suit the occasion and her en
semble.
When considering a glove for
costume coordination, there are
definite things that must be con
sidered:'is your ensemble plain
or detailed, what is its sleeve
length, what type is it-sporty,
daytime, late afternoon, or eve
ning?
Plain Styles
If the costume is detailed, wear
plain styles; wear novelty styles
if the costume is classic.
For those who have wondered
about types of finger stitching,
there are two main types: the
French-seam finger, in which the
seams are on the inside or wrong
side of the glove; and the hand
sewn finger and its variations, in
which the finger seams are
stitched on the outside, giving the
fingers a boxy look.
Perfectly Correct
Either of these types is per
fectly correct, although the
French-seam finger is considered
more formal.
There are eight basic glove
lengths - three short and five
longer. The shortest comes im
mediately to the wrist, below the
wrist bone; the regular shorty
glove covers the wrist bone; and
the next length shorty comes ap
proximately two inches above the
wrist.
Gauntlet Glove
The four button or gauntlet
glove, the six button, eight but
ton, twelve button, and sixteen
button make up the longer style
gloves.
A recommended guide to glove
fashion follows:
With the sports or long
sleeved costume, a wrist or regu
lar shorty; for the daytime
sleeveless dress, anything from a
wrist shorty to an eight button
glove is appropriate.
Short Gloves
The short gloves or a four or
six button glove Is worn with a
mid-arm sleeve. With the three
quarter sleeve dress the shorties
or the four button is lovely.
The "long" shorty and the
four, six, eight, and twelve but
ton gloves can be worn with late
afternoon outfits. For evening,
the wrist and regular shorties,
and the eight, twelve.and sixteen
button gloves are correct.
With late afternoon and eve
ning costumes the jeweled glove
is excellent.

How to Pr
Leather A,
, By Fashion Writer
Today, women of fashion re
vere leather accessories for their
high fashion and exquisite beauty
as well as for their durability and
utilitarian merits. Therefore, it
should be well cared for.
Because leather is so durable
and looks attractive even when
neglected, many women are apt
to forget to give their leather ac
cessoies the care they require.- It
is Iniportant to follow a regular
program of care.
Since leather is a living ~or
ganism, very similar to one's
own skin, it must be carefully
cleansed, gently lubricated, and
properly nourished, if it is to re
main beautiful through the years.
General Care Tips
Apply neutral wax conditioner
to handbags before using to pre
vent water spotting and to both
sides of leather belts before wear
ing to prevent cracking.
If the'handbag is leather-lined,
use conditioner on the inside and
outside.
Stuff the bag with tissue paper
and keep it in a box or drawer
when not in use to avoid crushing
or scratching the leather.
Most Leathers
For most leathers, a well
known leather preparation which
clsans, polishes, and lubricates
411 in -ne qtep is recommended.
Many are guaranteed not to
change the color of the leather or
rot the stitching.

away from any heat.
Special Care
Gold or silver leathers do not
attract dirt, so they need little
care. If they become scratched or
scuffed, they can be touched up
*ith a new spray solution.
Suede can be'kept attractive by
using a suede brush or a rubber
sponge for picking up dust. Fine
sandpaper refreshes the nap and
helps to remove soil.
Smooth grained leathers need
periodic conditioning with neu
tral cream.
Pigskin is benefitted and beau
tified by a saddle soap condition
ing plus a wax polishing when
dry. Snakeskin retains Its beauty
and flexibility when periodically
cleaned and conditioned with a
neutral cleaner and nutrient.
Alligator
Alligator, lizard, and 'reptiles
keep attractive it simonized or
treated with white or neutral
cream polish or balm at regular
intervals.
Patent leather "shines up" to
a cleansing with a thick froth
.of suds followed by a quick rinse
with a damp (not wet) sponge.
Polishing with a fresh, soft, dry
cloth is the final step.
Deeply grained leathers should
be gently brushed to get soil
from depths of grain. Condition
with clear, neutral cleaner and
polish. If too much conditioner ds
used, brush off excess.
