Draughon's Business College 1218 Sumter Street Society Baby Lindy Wa iy Found letaLodge Favors "Fuzz" Freeman Franklin Donelan Prefers Finding "Fuzz" To Any Reward; Dowling Disappointed By "Sunshine" Giles Editor N. Y. Times 1 he famed Lindbergh baby was found yesterday in the Alpha Beta Lodge by a group of enterprising coeds. They had been trailing him the greater part of the day under the impression that he was "Fuzz" Freeman of Carolina hockey team fame. The Lindberghs were delighted to regain their childing and made many protestations of thanks to the girls. "No reward, however large, could possibly repay us for our terrible disappointment in not finding 'Fuzz' at the end of our long chase," Franklin Donelan said. The resemblance between the famous baby and the Carolina athlete is astounding, it is reported. On the other hand, the baby seems to be quite intelligent. It is said that, although only twenty-months-old, he can fold his own. "And I thought that there was nobody in the world like my darling 'Fuzz,' sadly confessed Martha Ann Dowling, house mother at the Phi Pi Phi house. The Alpha Betas refused to give out any information about how the baby got into their palace. Two Bales Hay To Be Used In Sorority House Complaints of several members of Pi Beta Phi have become so numerous lately that the group has at last decided to have two bales of hay delivered to the farm every week instead of the customary one bale. This is expected to appease every member and pledge from now on. Sara Cassels and Sara Davis were both heartily in favor of the move, labelling it a "moral obligation to last fall's pledge class." Charlotte Coker, chief farmerette, berated the measure bitterly. "If we hadn't gone out for quantity last fall," she said, "we would still be able to go on as before. Just because we have a Pi Phi charter is no reason why we should give every girl on the campus a bid." It is rumored that Margaret Dial was one of the chief exponents of this measure. She made no, reply to this charge other than to say she thought it was necessary if the physical wellbeing of the group was to be maintained. Ellen Terry and Kitty Fox stated that they believed after looking over their sisters of the class of '35 that the measure was justified. Young men of today respect old age when it comes in bottles. ______ i n a JL. A ' News s Found I II Has Smallpox Courtesy Chapin Blab-it-all Leonard A. Modern Mary And Lamb At Carolina Who shall say that we do not conform to tradition, that we do not follow precedent? You have heard of the renowned Mary, possessor of a faithful little lamb, have you not? Did you realize that on this very campus there is a very modern Mary, with an ever faithful lamb in attendance? Well, although the lamb may have outgrown the lamb's estate in the matter of years, we insist that the symbolism is correct. Baker Joins Lightner In Club Venture On Pickem Street Acting President And Famous Actress Go In Cohoots; Grogs Invited Leonard T. Baker arrived this week after a visit with Winnie Lightner in New York, where the two made arrangements for opening an exclusive night club in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house on Pickem street near the Zeta Tau Alpha hang-out. Baker said upon returning that due to the demand of the college boys and girls for bone-dry ginger ale and the other good little things that go to make up truly good giner ale, he and Winnie had made arrangements for the convenience of both sexes, in a legal way. "We do not expect to compete with the Z. T. A.'s, but we do expect to attract no small number of g*oodtimers and studes in general who wish to enjoy a little Bohemian life. If anything, we want to cooperate with the Zetas to the ad-vantage of both parties. I suggest that we be allowed to get all of the shekels out of one pocket and then we can send the boy friend on over to the Zeta hang-out," Barroom Baker declared. All grog brothers are invited to attend the opening night of the club house tonight. All are requested to refrain from any pick-pocketing until the lights go out. No one will be allowed to pick his own pocket. D. 8. O. Snooting Machine To Be Installed Miss Gutting Sneedmore, National Officer Of Tri-Snoot, Confers Hero Miss Cutting Sneedmore, national officer of Tri-Snoot sorority, has been in Columbia for the past week consulting with the local chapter on the installation of a newly patented snooting machine. The national council recently adopted this apparatus as standard equipment for all Tri-Snoot houses. "Your reception of the idea was very favorable," Miss Sneedmore told Jessie Coldman upon leaving. "I find our girls here fully as exclusive and snooty as even the most conservative sorority could desire. However, I would warn the girls to be most careful to maintain their present attitude of priggishness. "The national council will allow no lowering of standards and has, in fact, recently issued a book, "The Most Contemptible Way of Cutting One's Friends," which must be mastered by every pledge before initiation." Fancy Phillips, president of the local chapter, declared herself heartily in favor of it. "Why the other day a couple of our pledges actually treated some A. D. Fli's with something like decent courtesy. Their pledges were broken immediately, but you have no idea how the incident lowered the morale of the group." u. Chapter Lost Because Of Weakness Of Inter-Sorority Necking Team By Josephine Griffin Charter of the B. O. cl apter of Delta Zeta sorority at the University was recalled at a recent special meeting of the national council, according to a notice received yesterday by the woman's Pan-Hellenic council. No cause for this action was announced officially, but Edythe Carlilsc, president of the local chapter, said it was probably brought on by the fact that their team for the last two years has failed to come out first in the inter-sorority necking tournament. "We realize that Delta Zeta will not allow such low standing to continue, but we think that some leniency should be allowed. Last year the Gamma Sigs made a particularly strong effort to overshadow us. Too, the team was seriously crippled last year when Dorothy Byrd was disqualified at the last minute because she had been in competition more than three years. Besides that, we have had strong competition against the A. D. Flies and Tri-Me's. Genevieve Reynolds said that the action of the council was fair but that the Dizzies had been gyped in the last tournament. "The Z. T. A. Jungaleers used some holds that are absolutely barred as well as primitive." Little Nell Cooper, Irene Chitty, and Juddie Knox, three members of this year's team, refused to comment on the action of the council. It is rumored that the local group will not disband, but will petition I Kant Neckem. IT. 0. P.. . . Pi Phi: "Are the boys at your house superstitious?" S. A. E. Page Thrive Belser Says German Will Be Big Flop Expect Crowd Anyway Decorations Are Second-Hand But Suckers Will Be Suckers, Says President By Calvin Coolidge "This year's Easter Ball will be a flop pure and simple," declared President Ed Belser yesterday in speaking of the German club's dance at the gymnasium tonight. Decorations arc second-hand, he pointed out, and the well-known thirdrate decorator, Miss Marie Dressier, has done her utmost to cover up this. "If the other fellows are like I, then they'll be wearing holy, motheaten tuxedos. I've about hid the seat of the trousers with the patches that have been necessary to keep me out of the prison on a charge of indecent exposure. I would not like to suffer the same fate as Bland Hammond along this line." President Belser said he expected to see the usual number of suckers attending the "terpsichorean tragedy," as he put it. "I do know this much: its going to be great to go to this frolic and see all of my enemies get stuck. It is too bad that my friends get in the same fix." XJ. 8. o.
