CIVICS CHANGE PLANS Call Meeting Passes on Changes for Banquet. At a call meeting of the Civic Club last week it was decided to change the date of the banquet from Wednesday night, March 14, to Saturday night, March 17. It was also decided to let the m 'm'ers take th-ir lady friends. lI :o n:nittee on arrangements 's a.iy p'anning for the banquet and it is expected that this will be one of the most enjoyable so cial events of the season. TRACK PRACTICE BEGUN Good Schedule Being Arranged for 1917 Season. L'ollowing the call of W. C. Mann, the newly elected mana of the 1917 track team, prac tie started Monday afternoon. WITH OTHER COLLEGES Cecil Creen, quarterback of the University of Alabama foot ball team, is at Washington and Lee. The co-eds of Vanderbilt have just added about one hundred dollars to the student activities fund by giving a "stunt night." The hit of the evening was the "Ballet Russe." Twenty members of the fresh man class of the University of N. C. made honor grades last semester. The dean reports that the average work of the freshman class has improved ev ery year. Their thoro alumni organization is bearing fruit. A shipment of 1,400 Springfield rifles has just been received at the University of California from the War Department in Washing ton. These will replace the old model Krag pieces that are now being used by the cadets. Ohio State men and women now have their feet as well as their minds trained. Every Thursday evening 75 couples flock to Orton hail to attend the social dancing class under the in struction of Allison W. Marsh of the department of physical edu cation. The girls attending the Junior Prom at Washington University recently received a severe shock when they were requested to check their bouquets at the door.
