One of the best known women of the American stage is writing it series of articles on the preservation of beanty. She attaches great importance to keeping the liver active at all times, and she is right. Neither good looks nor [ happiness will stay long with auy man or woman who lets the liver ^et lazy and sluggish. It is not always safe tojake calomel, | the old liver remedy. Doctors a^ree j that it is a very uncertain drug. But Harmon drug store has a remedy for j sale that they guarantee to take the j place of calomel absolutely, and still j be harmless, causing no restriction of j habit or diet. This remedy is Dodson's j Liver Tone. \ Dodson's Liver Todc is a pleasant- 1 tasting vegetable liquid, hut it starts; the liver gently and surely and relieves j constipation and biliousness so prompt- j ly thai it has become a dependable j remedy in thousands of homes in the United State5. Polite and Prt , : *k - # ; Mr- Reeder Succumbs. Mr. George Engene Reeder, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Reeder, died at the heme of his parents, near Edmund, at 6 o'clock Saturday morning following an illness of about two years. It seems almost deplorable that such a fine yonng man has been called from our midst in the prime of life. He had held a number of responsible and prominent positions. For j several years previous to tne time wins his health began failing: he was general agent for the Good Road Machinery Company, with headquarters at Knoxille, Tenn. He had demonstrat ed and sold many of his machines to the govermenfc. Evidences to the good he did through his company now lies in the exoelienfc pike roads that form a net work throughout Mecklenburg county, N. 0.. and iu rnauy other places throughout the South where he placed his-machinery, which are too numerous to mention. Mr. Reeder was one of the most popular young men in the county and enjr>3red a large acquaintance throughout the South. It is said that the company by which he - was employed at thei- time of his impairing heaiLh suffered a great loss in the retirement of Mr. Reeder. He is survived by four sisters and three brothers besides his parents, a3 follows: Messrs. J. Carran, Haskell C., Thereon W. Reeder; Mrs, Charley C. Corley, Lexington; Mrs. J. A. Griffith, of Edmund. / ' The funeral service was held at his late home at li o'clock Sunday morning, the ReV. A. R. Taylor officiating. It is reported that the minister swooned in the middle of the service and did not recover sufficiently to finish the service, which was concluded by Mr. Fred Shealy, an intimate friend and neighbor of the family. The interment followed in the family burying ground. . _ _ . i . : . ' *'". * y New School Building. On Friday of the 18th-jpiite a number of Spring Hill and vicinity gathered at the. Twin Bridges, a half mile below Spring Hill, for a day of pleasure, celebrating the completion of the thr eroom school building jnst completed. The exercises consisted chiefly of songs and addresses- A very interesting and helpful "address was made by the Rev. V. L. Fulmer, on the bearing of children, followed by an instructive talk from G. Miller Eleazer, urging the parents to cooperate with teachers in ' training the children. A very interesting paper was read by Miss Ethel Mae Eleazer on "Common Schools." Dinner was served, after which the crowd reassembled to organize an improvement club. The interest shown in, this was very encouraging. The Twin Bridge school opened on Monday last with an enrolImegt of about 90 pupils, with G. Miller Eleazer,> a graduate of Newberry college as principal and Miss Ethel Mae Eleazer, assistant. The third teacher will be added as soon as the trnstees see fit. All indications are that this school will be a prosperous one. The initial issue of the Sunday Columbia Record made its appearance Sunday. It was a whopper for a newspaper, containing more than a hundred pages. It far surpassed the recent water power edition sent broad cast a few months ago and was truly an edition de luxe. STATEMENT OF THE CONDITION of the / BANK OF PELION Located at Pelion, S. C.
