C. |\VELL LOVED CITIZEN PASSES I Yi-nll lm n 'i ll|| nT^S!S^s=== |of the Belmont section of NewI oerry county, died in ^ihe 'early l.noining of September fifteenth. He had been prominent in church I affairs through most of his life, land had been treasurer of Belmont Ifor more than thirty years. With lhi8 passing, there descended upon I the community, like a shadow, a Ttears. A massive audience attended I the funeral services on WednesIday, and a most impressive funeral service marked the farewell to our __ ~~ ?=? J? The?sci v ices ' were opened by |Rev. H. Gilliam, "Why do we I mourn departed flriends," after which Rev. Gilliam- read the scripture lesson from the twenty first' chapter of Revelations. There fl |was prayer by Rev. J. R- McMnr. ris, and a hymn, "My Soul be on ^ Thy^Guard," lined-by ~4tcv. J. Pi Robinson. The testimonies offered by Rev. Robinson, Rev. J. R. McMorris and Rev. D. B. Boyd were stories of bis fine work in churches. Each of Anderson, James Dawkins, Mayer che deacons of Belmont, W. A*.;. Reeder, O. M. Shappard, 'P. F. Crump, related stories of the sacrifices made and the deeds done to" make Belmont what it is today. Sisters Lula T. Wyatt, Matilda Kemp, Malissa Davison wnw generous in their-descriptions of his work in the community as a Christian. The funeral was preached by Rev. W. R. Reeder, an old friend of the deceased. He lined and the congregation sang "Am I a Soldier of the Cross?" ? n? he took j^is JtextJfrom Revelations "And they shall need no light." We and his bereaved family were lifted out of a great sorrow and made to feel glad by the wonderful discourse of Rev. Reeder. The beautiful services of the T. A. Williams Funeral Home add ed to the beauty of the occasion. Obituary of Mr. Peter Boozer Mr. Peter Boozer was born December 24, 1856, and when he died he had lived through eighty four years. Mr. Boozer's life i? one of or\n sistent Christianity. He had been connected with churches of two denominations in his life. He first joined the Trinity A. M. E. church but later chose to become a Baptist, and joined Belmont, under :the pastorate of the late Rev. B. B. Bibbs. He was ordaineci as - deacon; under RevT W.~R. Reeder ? . and Rev. J. P. Robinson, both of whom are 0n the platform today. Mr. Boozer had been married twice. In his youth he married Vinnie Wilson. To this union one child was born, but the Lord saw fit to take the child and its mother to the great beyond. He was - then?married to?Miss Eugene Gary, the widow who survives him. To this union one child was hnm. ??It was - about thirty years ago that he was?elected ag treasurer of Belmont church, and he held cms oinee to the day of his death, j He did not leave any testamoni[08. The life he lived fg the testa_ j mony that makes us all believe that he is now given the reward as Him who did on the cross beside Jesus, and to whom wns = aald, "This'day shall thou be with . He leaves to mourn his passing Me in Paradise." his widow, Mrs. Eugenia Boozer, one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Spragen, six grand children, four great grand children, and a hoat. ol. other relatives and friends. We shall miss you dear husband and father, and it i? not our will that you have gone away. It is the will of Him who is just and wise. So until that resurection morning When We- Shall nil mopf ? sleep well into the arms of Jesus. Remfembrance Of A Friend In S&d but loving memory of our dear brother and offi.er of m Belmont Baptise church who has bem a deacon and a faithful lead er for a considerable length of time. He loved his church, and always dutiful and frithful to any sacred cause. "" Through many nights when others were sleeping and taking their rest, he was traveling in the dust trying to do his best^ for his was done with faith and patience an<F without the show that is typical of some s0 called christ- m inns. But it was three days ago tonight that he answered t.'ie Saviour's call. He was a faithful brother to us all, but it was the will of our Father in lleaven to call him from labor to rewaid. He ha? gone from sorrow, gone fruill Gdr.e, we hope, where nights has turned to gain. You will never i>e forgotten, though on earth you are no mora. But in memory you will be with us as ^ you were always before * L. A. And?r*on : ? .
