Dr A M Snider has leased to Mr Chas Dubose his house on Railroad avenue, now occupied by Mr E F Martin, who will shortly move into ?the house occupied by the Doctor. On account of the illness of his little son, Rev Harold Thomas of Florence was unable to fill his appointments at the Episcopal church here Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. A Rockwell,for some months past doing a mercantile business on Academy street, went into voluntarj bankruptcy yesterday, with E L Hirsch and C E St Amand, Esqs, as attoi ntys. Our merchants have just signed an agreement circulated by Mr W H Welch to have the sidewalks swept off clean in front of their respective Dlaces of business every Saturday night before closing. In South Academy strt et it is sometimes difficult for persons on foot to walk the pavements without ^ encountering bicyclists who block the way. Only this morning, within ten minutes, we saw three 'cyclists . scorch in g down the sidewalk?two white men and one negro. Has the ordinance inhibiting bicycle riding on the side-walks been rescinded, or are certain parts of town exempted from its provisions? Another constitutional amend| ment is to be voted on in next | Tuesday's election, making eleven in : all. The last one, whieh seems to ; have been lost sight of in printing I the " copy" is Wo Z46, reiauve to increasing the taxation limits of the town of Yorkville. Most of the constitutional amendments to be voted , on seem to be purely local measures, but they cost the State a vast sum 1 in the aggregate. The Kingstree Telephone Co is about to start the erection of a twostory brick building, with a plan of j 20 by 60 feet, to be occupied by the central office of the company. The [ building will be erected on the company's lot adjoining that of Dr W V Brockington's drug store on South Academy street, where material is already being placed on the ground. When the new home of the company has been completed the wires along the main streets of the town will be incased into lead cables and adjust* * ? 1 J ed to a new, modern swucn ooaru. This demonstration will take place Monday of next week and continue until Saturday, conducted by an expert range man from the factory.
