On account of the illness of his
little son, Rev Harold Thomas of

Miss Laura Cromer, principal of

Rev W* E Hurt,Messrs C M Hinds,
L R Anderson and Frank Gamble
left yesterday afternoon for Georgetown
to attend the meeting of the
South-eastern District association of
the Baptist church, which is in session
there.
In South Academy strt et it is
sometimes difficult for persons on
foot to walk the pavements without
^ encountering bicyclists who block
the way. Only this morning, within
ten minutes, we saw three 'cyclists
. scorch in g down the sidewalk?two
white men and one negro. Has the
ordinance inhibiting bicycle riding
on the side-walks been rescinded, or
are certain parts of town exempted
from its provisions?
Another constitutional amend|
ment is to be voted on in next
| Tuesday's election, making eleven in
: all. The last one, whieh seems to
; have been lost sight of in printing I
the " copy" is Wo Z46, reiauve to increasing
the taxation limits of the
town of Yorkville. Most of the constitutional
amendments to be voted
, on seem to be purely local measures,
but they cost the State a vast sum
1 in the aggregate.
The Kingstree Telephone Co is
about to start the erection of a twostory
brick building, with a plan of
j 20 by 60 feet, to be occupied by the
central office of the company. The
[ building will be erected on the company's
lot adjoining that of Dr W V
Brockington's drug store on South
Academy street, where material is
already being placed on the ground.
When the new home of the company
has been completed the wires along
the main streets of the town will be
incased into lead cables and adjust*

by Mr S V Taylor, one of Greelyville's
livest merchants, inviting his
friends and customers to attend a
practical demonstration of the Majestic
Range. This demonstration
will take place Monday of next week
and continue until Saturday, conducted
by an expert range man from
the factory. It will be interesting,
even if you do not care to purchase
a range, to attend this demonstration.

We have at last made arrangements with Mr
Harrison, the Baby Picture man, to again show at
our Theatre the pictures that he took two weeks
ago. We have had many requests to again show
these pictures, and now, having made arrangements
to do this, we will.Thursday night, October
29, with our regular programme, show in the first
section all pictures of business houses, residences
and public buildings. On the night of October 30,
1914,we will again show on the screen the pictures
of Kingstree's beautiful babies and children. Th's
will be the last opportunity to see these pictures,
therefore those who are interested kindly take
notice. The usual price of admission will be
charged, 10 and 5 cents.
