It is evident that raisers of cotton . in some 'sections are rushing their crops to market as rapidly as possible and from Texas comes the statement that the railways are being hustled to j$ hurry consignments to port In the light of the practical certainty that the yield of the crop will fall largely below the estimates ef a few weeks ago and tnat tne supply w meet the sure spinning and export demands will not be adequate., it seems unbusinesslike for any cotton raiser to rush his crop to market in such haste, if he is able at all to hold it, or a part of it? in his own control. Present prices at points of delivery may be tempting. There is a natural dread on the part of producers that prices will fall. The pessimism of the ' class is proverbial. But conditions ought not to be ignored and the status of visible supply to calculable demand | is such even now as to give every promise that prices will advance rath er than decline whenever the approximate crop is known. The Constitution believes that it is not wise for any farmer to sell cotton now that his actual necessities do not compel him to part with. Every pound of cotton will be needed and will be bought later on at prices the fanners who own it will make; and not the j V?" mioKI Atlanta, fnn UIAC1 D? A/VU V A UUU? vv. V stitution. SCORES DELINQUENT. The Chesterfield Advertiser Goes for Him in "Arizona Kicker" Style. The white-livered son of a sea cook that came into onr office on the SOth day of March, 1902, and subscribed for the paper, voluutarily, promising to pay a quarter of a dollar within a few weeks and the remainder in the fall, hasn't had his face in our sanctum since. Every time we see him on the streets he looks as if he had stolen the birthright of a pole cat or swiped the coppers off of a dead nigger's eyes. We are not kicking because he owes us a dollar, but because he has lied about it. We have but three or four such "cheap skates" on our subscription books and we want to get . rid of them forever, but before we mark them off we want them to read in cold' type our opinion of them. \ t Th^ntiw referredp> may have the ^fdvetti^jr^ei^-tQ.Uyp after the 1st :*?. of Septeml>er by paving all back ' dues and one dollar, id. advance, , otljfcorwis^his measly name will 110 tamper appear on oar list-f-Chester^ela Jidfvertiser. ; . - ' - ' . < imfjili; THROWS SOME MORE LIGHT QN THAT DOG DAY COMET. Intimate Connection between Comets j ?-i Tu?n?Li;??c anu weieur* anu ucu nciai>vu< With Other Stellar Phenomena. Editor County Record:? In looking so assidiouslv I have no doubt but our friend Daniel saw the late comet but failed to recognize it because the tail was scarcely visible to the naked eye; for it was visible without a telescope, and described as a dim stai, and known to be a comet by its movement fiom day to day among i the stars. I did not recognize it, but others told me thev saw it ; after having it pointed out to | them. Bui I saw it by faith in in the reports. I know astronoaners fail lo agree wilh me in to-to on the office of comets as scavengers of creation, bringing in sun fuel. But I liev come all 'round it?much closer than our friend Daniel, tor they themselves own up that that the sun is partly fed by meteors. Comets and meteors are intimately connected. Some claim that meteors are disintegrated comets, and are so abundant that even in the earth's path millions of thein strike our atmosphere a.?t? tiiltw.l, Komir st tl'sins. OCI y V1UJ) n ii'vu i/wiiigt parent bomb-proof envelope, burn* I hem up by friction; otherwise the last one ol us would be pelted to death in a short while. Large meteors often pass through and strike the earth. Thev are gathered up and kept in jnnseums and called meteorites. Some Of them weigh over a thousand pounds. But if our li'lle world is pelted by so many, what about the great I sun, more than a million times largei? What are comet?? Prof Todd in his new astronomy says: "Perhaps comets are but chips of the ' " ' ? ? I. i.t.knl A IXI Ann.' Hundreds of little worlds have been discovered since 1S00 re volving around the sun in about fifteen hundred days between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, too little to be seen by the naked eye, j fore shadowing thousands of mil | lions more, too little to be seen } bv the telescope unless some of J I them strike our bomb-proof atmosphere and look like shooting stars. In the fairest day there is water; enough in the atmosphere to' make a river, but unseen because the particles of vapor are too small. Just so with the wealth of de-! bris scattered through space to be gathered up by swarms of comets?the one hundreth part of them never seen perhaps?and ! for a purpose! What else out sun fuel? Now the boys talk of Mr Has-1 elden's old fox hound?called ''Chain Lightning"?as running 60 fast that when he makes a short j turn his tail pops like a whip. j j So imagine the tail of this monster comet in its fearful dive toward the sun, making the round turn so suddenly! Or lias any one seen him going hack tor another load? I'm getting uneasy about him, like John said to iiis menu aooui me moon -.me, sav, have you seen fhe moon lately? Lockjaw, or tetanus, is caused by a bacillus or germ fehich exists plentifully in street dirt. It is inactive so long as exposed to the siir, but when canied beneath the skin 5is in the wounds caused by percussion caps or by rusty nails, and when the air is excluded the germ is roused to activity and produces the most virulent prison kaown. These germs may be destroyed and all danger of lockjaw avoided bv applying Chamberlain's Pain Palm freely as soon as the injury is re ceieen. Pain Balm is an antiseptic and causes cuts, bruises and like in juries to 110:11 wirnouc maturation and in one third the time required by the usual treatment.
