We see by the Charleston "News and Courier" thai Mr. 11 Lucas of that city, a brother of our townsman Mr. John Lucas, was seriously in jured on Monday by falling from his buggy while riding in King street, the wheel of the buggy being thrown into a drain. We regret to learn that he remained in an unconscious state after removal to his home, and grave fears arc felt for the result. This gallant corps seem-; to he lorlunate in always having the smiles of the women upon their efforts, and we would sny in return to those gene rous ladies that their smiles are not wasted, but have fallen upon as brave, noble ami handsome a corps of young men as ever wore a soldiers uniform, fhey arc the llower of Orangeburg and the pride of her citi zens, and are well worthy of all the efforts made for their advance ment. The ladies met at the Engine House on Tuesday and perfected all the anangements for the proposed Fair, which will be hold on the even ings of the Kith and 17th instant, at the Elliott Hook and Ladder Hall. The object of the Pair is to provide the compnuv with a proper uniform, and no eildrts will be spared to make J it a success. Of course the cneour | Mgemcnt and assistance of tho com munity will be needed, but wo have no doubt that it will be generously bestowed. There is generally a considerable loss of mem ory, accompanied with a painful sen sation of having hit undone sonic thing which ought to have been done. A slight, dry cough is sometimes an attendant. Tbc patient complains of weariness and debility; he is easily startled, his feet arc cold or burning, and ho complains of a prii kly sensa tion of the skin ; his spirits arc low; and although he is satisfied that exer cise would be beneficial to him, yet he can scarcely summon up fortitude enough to try it.
