Edwards, of New York, who, in 1S71. took a twenty-year Tontine policy' with the Equitable for $10,000, writes as follows: “ 1 am extremely well satisfied : with this result, obtaining more Man $1,000 in excess of alt the premiums It have paid, in addition to having enjoyed the pntection of my policy during \ the twenty years it has been in force l am loath to part with such an old\ friend as this policy has been to me, but in doing so, / do not propose to part i company with the Equitable, haring applied for another Tontine policy, the j benefits under which J also hope to obtain during my lifetime.'' Another, Mr Nathaniel Wilson, of Washington, writes in relation to policy j No 00,813 as follows: “7 took out a Tontine policy in your Company for $20,000. The policy has been settled to my satisfaction, i have since taken out policies ( of the same kind for $60,000, because Jam satisfied that the Tontine plan is to be preferred to any of which I hate knowledge." If these statements were from the widows or executors of policy-holders who ! | had died, they would be significant, or, it they were from policy-holders who i were satisfied with their assurance because it furnished protection, and gave j I them sufficient peace of mind to offset the burden of the continuing annual} I premiums on their policies, they would be no more than reasonable assertions.
