Council also authorized sec ond reading of an ordinance which would increase the salary of the mayor to $150 and the salary of councilmm to $75 per month. The ordinance was proposed by the City Planning (’ommission. Council heard first reading of a proposed ordinance ad opting- the state statutes pro viding for municipal nomina tions and election, and adopted a recommendation that a 40- hour week he established for all hourly employees with the exception of the garbage col lection department, effective November 1. The garbage detail would he on a 44-hour week. Salary rates will he adjusted so that employees receive the same compensation for the shorter work week.
