six.
Council also authorized sec
ond reading of an ordinance
which would increase the salary
of the mayor to $150 and the
salary of councilmm to $75
per month. The ordinance was
proposed by the City Planning
(’ommission.
Council heard first reading
of a proposed ordinance ad
opting- the state statutes pro
viding for municipal nomina
tions and election, and adopted
a recommendation that a 40-
hour week he established for
all hourly employees with the
exception of the garbage col
lection department, effective
November 1. The garbage detail
would he on a 44-hour week.
Salary rates will he adjusted
so that employees receive the
same compensation for the
shorter work week. The City
Manager stated that this would
meet the mmim mi wage re
quirements which will become
effective m February and
