by the way.. Bv DORIS A. SANDERS WHAT DOES IT? In a letter written to the 1 editor of a daily newspaper re cently, a gentleman asked, “What does it take to make Americans mad?” For years I have thought the public would awaken from its apathy and start demanding government reform. Surely, I thought, when I.B.J began his mounting stream of welfare programs, with the widely pub licized waste to the taxpayers, the public would be aroused. And if not for that reason, isn’t anyone concerned that we allow American boys to be killed in a war we are not trying to win in Vietnam? What does it take 0 Did it not make your blood boil to read Tuesday that the confessed killer —- confessed, mind you—of six persons was turned loose on the public simply because he wasn t ad vised of his “rights” before he confessed? What dot s it take to make Aneneans mad en ough to do something about the Supreme t'ourt which is rapidly carrying this country to destruction? The Pro,den’ made a gi'eat deal of no!<e the other day a- bi ui t fighting crime. hunny he didn’t mention that m Dec ember; he vetoed a bill winch would have helped curb crime in the nat,on's worst crime rid den coy, Washington. D. (' \'ot only did he veto the bill, he did: it while Congress was out of "essio11 and had no op port unity to ovei - r de 1 b o veto. Now ht* say we must spend two billion - not million, but billion—dollars over the next two years to find waye to curb violence. I can teU him how to do that and it weu’i cost the taxpayers a penny. Simply remove the j.heral bleeding hearts from the Supreme Court and every i,i her i ourt in t he land; replace them with men who will see i hat punishment is meted out Volume 30—Number 44.
