Seventy per cent, of all successful men in the great cities are farmer's sons. The old homestead with its tra ditions, Its well-sweep, Its corn-husk ing, its rich and varied experiences, wlil never be forgotten. If you would recall them and live them over again do not fail to see Frank Davidson In "The Folks up Willow Creek-" Look at the pumpkins gleaming amidst the fodder shocics and as perfect a picture of genuine farm life as has yet been seen on the American stage. A bill has boon introduced iu Con gress to give towns of 5000 inhabitants, or with postomee of *f>000 the bonolit of the dally carrier sorvlce that large cities now enjoy. A petit-on has been forwarded to Congressman Joe John son to urge him to support the bill and have such a system established hero. The bill is likely to pass. The post of lice receipts here are between six and seven thousand dollars each year and certainly growing larger, so Laurens, when the bill becomes law, will likely got tho carrier service. "The Frank Davidson company ap peared last night to a large audlenco, and without a doubt the most delighted one that has assembled in Bpartan burg."?Spartanburg Herald At City Opera House, February Oth. Reserved seats on sale at Palmetto Drug Co, SHOULD BE ABATED. Incenreuienco Caused by Trains and Cars in Main Street. Editor ok The Advertiser: The frequent encroachment by tho oars of the Charleston ?fe Western Carolina Railway Company upoa tho highway crossing on East Main street In the oity of Laurens makes It p.oper for the writer to call the attention of the public authorities to this matter. The cars aro often left standing upon the crossings for over five minutes at a time and at night sometimes freight cars aro left projecting over the highways some distance which makes horses shy around in cross ing. A lady said to the writer to day as she orossed the place that the orossing was really dangerous and that a flagman ought to be stationed there for the public safety. On two occasions the writer was in danger of being struck by a crossing oar for want of sufilolent signals at the time. The au thorities ought to urge upon the rail road to place their cars away from the crossing and not blockade the same. The city authorities ought also to see to it that the telephone posts are sot further from the edge of the street near the crossing so as to leave a wider traveling place near the crossing on either side. The bed of the street just below the railroad crossing and West of the river ought to he elevated so as not to make such a steep ascent to cross the track of the railroad. 1 Pedestrian." Letter to W. L. Boyd. Laurens, S. C, Dear Sir: How would you like to take the agency for the "Fewer-gallons; wears longer" paint?Devoe Lead and Zinc? It will cut in half the amount of paint you sell for any one job, but will mul tiply the number of jobs by three, four, five, ten, flfteen--as much as you and we can make It by putting tbo facts before your fellow-townsmen. People are going to paint more when they find it's so worth while to paint, and they are going to be glad they did it Instead of sorry, as many are now. It's like making a harness. He who finds a way to make a harness in less time, at less cost, and make it last twice to four timps as long? 's going to get the business of bis town.
