There ivraa but little discussion on any of the bills and quite a number .were either passed to their third reading or sent to their death. The most important bill passed trvtay, and for that matter during fl*n * * vt? ocaoiou, was max, reiaiive to tlie assessment of property. 'The Senato proposed to assess cottftn ' lill property through a State >oard of assessors, as now done with railroads. The House amend * e l by including cotton" seed oil mills, fertilizer factories and can a I companies supplying power under the provision of the bill. If the Senate agree to the Hon: e amendments this will have the fertilizer, cotton and textile mills assessed by a State board of one > . < rom each couuty. COMMITTEE REPORTS. The committee on claims recommended that the resolution relative to the Joshua Fain; , <1 claim be continued until next session. The judiciary committee re commended that several bill - referred to that committee go over e . until next session. ' the resolution asking for a commission on fish and game la a. The was no objection and th resolution was unanimously ngreed to, and reads an amended by Mr McMaster: He it resolved by the House of Representatives, the senjto con ; < irring, That a commission, con siiting of one Senator and two members of the House, be appointed to sit during recess and investigate the fish terrapin and shell-fish industry and game of the State, and to ascertain the reason of the scarcity of food fuhes in the interior of the State, and to suggest what measures s -.ould be tAken to increase th e number of fish in the interior rivers of the State, the best method of protecting the shellfish and terrapin and all game, and also to urge through the proper officials the establishment of fish hatcheries by the fish commission of the United States Government, and to report to the General Assembly at its next session by bill or otherwise ; said committee to be appointed b the President of the Senate and Speaker of the llouee, and te sit s not exceeding 30 days, and are to t receive as compensation three f dollars per day and all necessary 1 expenses, are hereby authorized 1 to visit such places within the * limits of the State as in their ( judgment may be necessary.
