There was disappointment all around on Wednesday night at the residence of Magistrate Caskey. The justice, had received notice during the day hold himself in readiness to perform a very important ceremony, that . night. Of course there was no # idea but what everything would K i turn out alright and a number of young people gathered to witness the ceremony. But, the -1 * * * * untie ana groom aid not show up. The magistrate, however, was badly disappointed, but is stiii ready to do the work in first class style should the couple ever call on him. Mrs. Laura Gettis, eldest daughter of Mr. Church Neely, died at her home a few miles north of town Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, from the effects of a chill. Her remains were in terred at little Zion cemetary Thursday morning. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn her loss two of which are only about a week or ten days old. Died, Thursday morning at 7 o'clock, at the residence of her brother, Mr. R. B. Mac key, of Heath Spring, of appendicitis. She had only been sick for a short while, when she was called to an other home. Miss Maggie was about fourteen years old and was therefore just budding into sweet womanhood. Her remaini were interred at Heath Spring Friday evening at 3 o'clock after funeral services conducted by Rev. C. Moore. If you have piles, cure them. She got up between 4 and 5 o'clock to u ' breakfast and while she was kindling the fire she received tlie death summons, lier husband who was awake at the time she got up dropped off to sleep again, and when he woke he found her lying on the floor dead. The coroner was notified, and an inquest was held and the verdict of the jury was that the cause of her death was apoplexy. Her remains were buried in the new cemetery here. When you ask for Dr. M. " g - # SAN 1SODOKO CAPTURED. A Brisk Fight Between Law (on and Insurgents. Manila, May 17.?Gen'l. Lawton captured San Isodoro this morning. An expedition left Caln in pit at daybreak, marching up the Rio Grand to join Lawton's force at Arayat. A (lotilia of canoes with supplies also proceeded up the river. The tin clad army gunboat convoyed both forces. The advance guard I of Lawton took the city, being under the command of Col. Summers. The fighting was brisk, and long sustained by both forces, but the insurgeants were unable to withstand the fierceness of the American attack and were driven from the trenches.
