The firearm in this case was not confiscated for the reason that the negro threw it away into a thick clump of bushes just as the policeman was about to grab him, and the article \ was lost and never found. The Peoples Filling Station is under a new manager now and is supplying gas at the ^rice of twenty-seven cents per gallon as nov advertised in the Herald. * * ? * Arrangements are being made to 'continue the advertisiner of Oranuf Crush in the Horry Herald. This nev series will be started as soon as thr arrangements can get completed. * * * * ? J. F. Hardee saved writing to I Conway by paying for the Herald al Loris by leaving the money for tlv paper with the cashier of the Farmers Bank. This arrangement makesit easy to pay for the Herald . * * * * * The' people in Socastee are destitute, according to statements told in Conway by many coming in fror that place. It is a matter of deep regret and their condition has awakened much sympathy on the part of the people of other places. ***** ,B. W. Pickett moved away from Conway some time ago, where he I was holding a position with the W. H. Winbourn Company. Many farmers have failed to come in under the co-operative plan, while many of them signed the contracts and are delivering their tobacco to the co-operative warehouses. , o ?
