and machinist, spent several days in
Conway lest week, erecting a Miller
feeder with the Chandler & Price
Craftsman press, the latest word in
job printing equipment.
Ed L. Smith, the manager of the
Loris Grocery Company, also interested
in the Cooper-Smith Company,
of Conway, has been kept quite busy
at the two places, whene a large
business is being done in wholesala
groceries.

James Cox, negro, was tried in
the town court last week on a
H charge of disorderly conduct and
when found guilty was fined in the
sum of fifteen dollars. The charge
against <him was filed in the court by
a negro woman of the hill.

A negro by the name of Hemingway
was tried in the town court one
day last week and fined in the sum of
thirty-five dollars when found guilty
of carrying concealed weapons. The
firearm in this case was not confiscated
for the reason that the negro
threw it away into a thick clump of
bushes just as the policeman was
about to grab him, and the article
\ was lost and never found. ' '

plant is doing a great deal of work
and putting up the cool drinks in
many different styles and in a per-;
fectly sanitary way.
The Peoples Filling Station is
under a new manager now and is

The' people in Socastee are destitute,
according to statements told in
Conway by many coming in fror
that place. It is a matter of deep
regret and their condition has
awakened much sympathy on the
part of the people of other places.

H. Winbourn Company. He moved
away to North Carolina, where he
is now holding a good position
with one of the furniture factories

The Planters Warehouse, the only
one in Conway selling tobacco under
the auction plan, has been having
' a thriving business from all apnearances.
Many farmers have failed
to come in under the co-operative
plan, while many of them signed the
contracts and are delivering their
tobacco to the co-operative warehouses.
