Moore and E. L. Moore, as Defendants, and the taking of the testimony consumed the middle part of the day, The plaintiff was represented by II, II. Woodward and the defendant Mollie B. Moote, by L, 13. Singleton, Eiqr, The case involves the foreclosure of several mortgages given to the plaintiff by Mollie B. Moore and E. D. Moore. The first mortgage was given in 1907, there being two on the same date, one signed by E L. Moore alone for the purchase money I of a new tract of twenty-one acres I that day purchased by him the! other signed by E L Moore and Mollie B. Moore on lifty acres, said to be the property of the latter. E L Moore has been in frtquent trouble in the courts. Some months ago he and his wife, MollitvB. Moore, moved to Georgetown aud engaged in the hotel business. Trouble quickly arose, E. L. Moore was indicted in the courts of Georgetown aud convicted and sentenced. He comple ted this sentence not long since, and it is said be is now working at Jack son, N. C. His wife returned to tho farm here. Tnis suit was brought against them for foreclosure of the mortgages held by S. T. Sessions, about the time thev had moved away to Georgetown. E L. Moore made no answer in the case, but Mrs Mol lie B. Moore answered the complaint and denied that she had executed the mortgages, but admitted in her answer that she had sigued the notes Very strong evidence was produced before the referee showing that she executed both the notes and the mortgage. Only a very small percentage of the amounts actually due under the notes could bo obtained from the property. J. N. He was elecied treasurer of Borry Connty in 19o8 and fidod the cilice for one term, Kenning for re-election he was defeated. Later a shortage in the cftiee was reported. This was mentioned in the newspapers last week, giving the report or an expert sent no re to (igure it up. Later other misfortunes followed and finally left the State, no doubt with the hope of engaging in new fields and rebuilding his fortunes, It is said that he is holding a responsiolo position in the State to which he went. When he becomes able he will no djubt settle np the balance due on several ob ligations. On last Salesday his house and lot in Conway, anu a tract of land belonging to him, situate in the country, were soid at public auction to satisfy several mortgages against the property. The land lacked a great deal of bringing the amounts due. ' '* CONWAY, S.
