Contest in 10 ear and single ear classes are < p n to the farmers and corn club boys of Horry. Mr Williams told you how weli you had succeeded in your first effort to grow corn and now you are better p ppared to select samples of oorn, so why not try an exhibit at Columbia. Several of the boys left a splendid sampl-1 <if their corn in my oflice, but I would suggest that you send a better sample if you have it. It will cost you about twenty-five cents t.j send your corn, but it will be returned free. In preparing corn to ship wrap each ear in paper, place in a sural! box, put ) our name and address on the b x, and where you can put several small boxes in one box and ship to L L Baker, Columbia, S C , mark on your bill of lading, "prompt shipment refused." For the accommodation or the farmers and bovs of the several lower parts of the county. I will be of the depot m Conway Friday, November 25th, and at Loris the evening of the 25 h and the morning of the 20th to prepare your corn for shipment. 1 hope Horry will put in a nice exhibit and some of the boys and farmers will attend. Mr Baker will take care of your corn and put it on exhibition I aim to go either the 2nd or 3rd of December to assist in the arrangement of Horry's exhibit. In selecting corn, perhaps the following suggestion will help you: Try to get ears between 8x12 inches, uniform in size, well liuea out, at tne ends, straight, clost rows, well developed grains. Let your variety be either red or white cob and as pure a white as you can tret. S 11 Brown. State of Ohio, City of Toledo. ) Lucas County. f ss.
