HORRY'S OPPORTUNITY.
A Chance to Win the Championship
for the Pest Corn Raisin# County.
The farmers and corn club boys
of the different counties of the
State, will show exhibits of their h
corn in Columbia, December 5th to 8th,
1910.
Contest in 10 ear and single ear
classes are < p n to the farmers and
corn club boys of Horry.
Mr Williams told you how weli
you had succeeded in your first effort
to grow corn and now you are
better p ppared to select samples of
oorn, so why not try an exhibit at
Columbia.
Several of the boys left a splendid
sampl-1 <if their corn in my oflice,
but I would suggest that you
send a better sample if you have it.
It will cost you about twenty-five
cents t.j send your corn, but it will
be returned free.
In preparing corn to ship wrap
each ear in paper, place in a sural!
box, put ) our name and address on
the b x, and where you can put several
small boxes in one box and ship
to L L Baker, Columbia, S C , mark
on your bill of lading, "prompt shipment
refused."
For the accommodation or the farmers
and bovs of the several lower
parts of the county. I will be of the
depot m Conway Friday, November
25th, and at Loris the evening of
the 25 h and the morning of the
20th to prepare your corn for shipment.
1 hope Horry will put in a nice exhibit
and some of the boys and farmers
will attend.
Mr Baker will take care of your
corn and put it on exhibition I
aim to go either the 2nd or 3rd of
December to assist in the arrangement
of Horry's exhibit.
In selecting corn, perhaps the following
suggestion will help you:
Try to get ears between 8x12 inches,
uniform in size, well liuea out, at tne
ends, straight, clost rows, well developed
grains. Let your variety
be either red or white cob and as
pure a white as you can tret.

Infallible Distemper Cure.
There being an epidemic of distrainer
going the rounds in the dog
world at the present time, I would
like to give the owners of dogs the
bost known cure for the disease.
Sv.mi'Tons - Mr Noah, when ha
started on his voyage, pulled in his
gang plank and called "all aboard."
His dog followed, ?.im and the "ark"
being so crowded the pup was forced
to stand by the door, As the clouds
would break with the promise of
sunshine the dog kept sticking forth
his nose until the frcftts of Mt.
A rat and the rains forever cooled it.
So, until this day, as long as a dog's
nose is ecoi and damp, he is in perfect
health. So, therefore, watch
the baron etcr ol the dog to tell if
be is unwell.
