At his home near here, on Monday, December 7th. 1908, Rev L. S. Booth a Baptist minister, fell asleep in the 02nd year of bis age, aud was laid to rest the following day in the cemetery at Poplar church, in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and frieuds. The services were conducted by Rev D. D. Anderson, assisted by Rev J. C. Davis of the Methodist church. It can truthfully bo said that a good man has falleu and his loss will be keenly felt by his family and friends and in the churches with which he was identified. However, in death he trains, for the grace that supported him through life was with | him at the last and be mot death ' triumphantly. While suffering unceasingly, ho sang some of the sweet songs of Zion, prayed and preached Jesus on his dying bed Like Job of old he was able to say: "Though they slay me, yet will I trust Thee." Just before dying, he expressed his desire to go and asked his family to meet him in heaven. Brother Booth embraced religion and joined the church of his choice in early life and served his church in the capacity of a leader, oxhortor until the time of his death and was an ordained preacher. He was a teacher and superintendent of the Sunday school for many years. He did not have the advantage of a first class education, but by close application, especially in the study of the Bible ho was aole to preach sermons worthy of many pulpits and the best of all he lived the lived he professed was a living witness for Christ and the su unions found he doing valient service in the saving of souls to the glory of God. At the time he was taken sick he was attending the session of the Waceamaw Baptist Association at Loris and sulTered for three weeks without a murmur. Mr Booth was a faithful Confederate soldier and shortW after the war he married a daughter of the late Petteway Carirette and seven children, two sons and tive daughters were born uuto them. One son, A. H. Booth, a prominent young lawyer is now practicing in Georgia. The writer was acquainted with him for forty years and under every circumstance, always found him to ? be a true man in every respect; of i a cheerful disposition, he looked for the best in everything and his life was a shining light and example to the ccmmunitv in which ho lived.
