If yon have not your registration certificate, get it now und be ready when the town elections come round in July. Remember that a county registration I certificate is a prerequisite to obtaining your town certificate. Death of Conductor Slocumb, The friends of Conductor J. C. Slocumb were shocked to hear of his sudden death from apoplexy on his train between Loris and Chadbourn last Saturday He ate dinner at his home here and left on the passenger train at 3:40 s in apparent good health. At Loris f he complained of feeling badjand told \ the engineer, that he had a strange \ dizzy feeling in his head. At Mt. 1 Tabor, '.he next station after Loris, s lie became unconscious and would t have fallen upon the floor had he not t been supported. A doctor was call ed at Mt. Tabor hut he never regained consciousness and was dying when the train reached Cha.lbourn. He leaves several children and a wife who was prostrated with grief when the sad news reached her. The bereaved family left with the remains on Monday morning for Clin- I ton. N. C.. their former home. We arc informed that Mrs. Slocumb will ' move back to Clinton in a short time, i Capt. Slocumb had many friends in Conway. His genial disposition ! never failed him and once known he was never forgotten. The Atlantic Coast Line has lost a faithful ser vant. 1 ( Marion District Conference. The above named body lias come and gone. The benefits and pleas ures distributed between the mem- 1 bers and delegates of that body and the people of our town seemed equal ly divided. The sentiment of each host seemed to be that he received the pick of the body.
