Tn k Herald} Published Every Thursday. CONWAY ? s. 0., NOV. 0" 1803. om:k sr.\ i:x .million Invested In New 1 nterprlsos 1 >n rli?u the l*asl Voiir. Yesterday marking tlic close of the fiscal year of 1802 Oil, the Secretary of State compiled Ids annual re poitof the charters issued during the year and a remarkably ^ood ? .1. 1. ... i - rMIVJ ,, I IUUIIOHH.M l?l^ IIIU Hill I IIIHCS, is made, ?s oompared to the preceding year. Less charters were issued than during the year before, but the ag gregate capital Jnvested in them ex ceeds the preceding year by over two millions of dollars. Last year 121 commissions wero is sued with a total <>f TO charters. This year 122 commissions went out with a total of 72 charters. The aggregate capital invested in the Tit companies inaugurated last yeai, including, of course, the increases in capital stock of several concerns previously chartered, was ?-1,060.750 as against $7.4111,000 for this year. This is a good showing, but it is in: possible, of course, to mil from these liguivs whether the various concerns have been making or losing money on the capital invested. It shows, however, that the people of the Sta'c have not been afraid to invest their money in new enterprises and that South Carolina is still keeping up in tlie onward march of progress. The Attorney (leneral has nearly completed his annual report. It will be one of tho most interesting to be issued this year. The teport of the Attorney (leneral on the Port Loyal and Augusta railroad case, resulting in the u n hot Mi hit iif l *111-1 Um\'?i ? ; i i ^ ? - . V,.. " "* occupy a good deal of space. In this report, toe, will bo found a sketch of all the caces in which tlie legal do partnient of the State administration has been concerned. More cases have been handled by the present incumbents in oflice than by any predecessors and the summary will be interesting. The report will show a very heavy bill for the printing of briefs, etc , in all these cases. There has been so much of this that the appropriation has been insullicient to meet the bills. Adjutant General Farley and Superintendent of Education Mayficld are both hard at work finishing up their reports and expect to have them through in time. Positive anil Negative. The Uace question is unsettled. But it is settled that Hood's Sursa parilla leads all remedies. Disease inarches through all lands. But good health blesses all who take Hood's Sarsaparilla. Dyspepsia is a great foo of the human race. But Hood's Sarsaparilla puts it to llight. Scrofula is one of the most terrible <?f diseases. But Hood's Sarsaparilla expels it from the system. The people of this dav, like .Job, suiter from boils. But Hood's Sarsaparilla is a sovereign remedy for them. Catarrh is one of the most disagreeable disorders. But Hood's Sarsaparilla is sure to relieve and i; 111o li* Khcumatism racks the system like a thumb screw. Hut ii retreats before the power of Hood's Sarsupar ilia. I.oss of appetite leads to melancholia. Hut Hood's Sarsnparilla makes the plainest repast tickle the palate. Life is short time is Hooting, but Hood's Sarsuparillu will bless humanity as the ages roll on. "A chemical success and medical triumph," so speaks an eminent physician in reference to Ayer's t'herrv Pectoral; and the eulogy was none too strong. No other medicine is so safe and efficacious in all diseases of the throat and lungs. An English admiral, says: "It is true, the life-3aviug service of Amor ica is not equaled anywhere in the world." It is also true that Ayer's Cherry Pectoral saves, annulIv, thousands of lives. Invaluable in sudden colds, throat, and lung troubles. If the hair is falling out, or turning gray, requiring stimulant with nourishing and coloring food, Hall's Vegetable Sicilian Ilair Hencwor is just the specific. Deafness amiot bo tired by local applications, as they cannot rnupli tl?n i: ' ' . umcaacu jjornon oi tne ear. There is only one way to euro Deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Hliutachinn Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, ar.d when it. is entirely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can he taken out and this tube restored to its con dition, hearing will he destroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, whi<n is nothing U,.?
