SIDNEY NOTES Well Mr. Editor as I have not written any to the dear old Press and Standard for quite a while I will give you a few items. The farmers in this section are about through plowing now and fodder pulling is on hand. The protracted meeting which Rev. J. M. Craven ‘began at Bethany on the 16 of July was quite a Success on account of the ramv weather. Rev. H. Newton of Adams Run IF’ preached an able sermon on Sun day night. Mr. Ben Adams of Pleasant Grove came on Wednes day to assist Bro. Craven. He was listened to with great atten tiveness. . V.’e always enjoy to hear such able preachers as those three proclaim the gospel. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gruber of St. George, visited relatives in this section last week. Miss Virginia Berry of Cottage- ville is the guest of Miss Edith Jofdan. Messers S. W. L. M. and H. A. Bridge visited the Isle of Palms on last Sunday. Ira Bishop and his sister Miss Lurlean of Cottageville attended the protracted meeting at Beth any. This community was well rep resented ai the W. 0. W. picnic at Hiotts Park last Thursday. The union meeting whifch was at Union church best known as Maple Cane on Friday Saturday and Sunday was quite a success. Some able speeches were made by Revs. J. *M. Craven, P. W. Warren, L. B. and S. W. Acker man and several others. Dinner was served on the ground on Saturday. Large crowds attend ed all three days. Mr. and Mrs. J. 0. Jackson of Givhans visited relatives last Saturday and Sunday. John Bell of Ridgevil)^ and his sister Miss Carrie were the guests of Miss Maggie Gruber on Satur day and Sunday last. t H. K.
