Calhoun entertained a number of friends Tuesday afternoon in honor of Miss May Simms, whose approaching marriage to Mr. A. D. Oliphant, of Columbia, is un event of interest in Barnwell. • • Mr. H. B. Berry, of Metter, Ga., was in the city last week and called very cleverly at The People office. He states that the weekly visits of this paper to his home are as welcome as an American relief ship is to the Bel gians. Dr. R. A. Deason, who was recently appointed post master at Barnwell, vice Mr. C. E. Falkenstein, resigned, took charge of the office, last week. If the first week’s service is an jndex of his administration, the patrons of the Barnwell office will have no cause for complaint. , .
