In consideration of the fact that the disease is preventable, such should not be the case. JOvery effort has been made to educate tho public and impress all health agencies with the importance of protection of children from six months of ago to six years of ago against diphtheria. From the latter age the individual establishes an increasing natural immunity, hence it is not as necessary to administer the toxoid or toxinanti-toxin then as it is in the younger children. This accounts for tho fact that about eighty per cent of ^ the cases occur between tho ages ot two and five years. All physician#1 are urged to bring to the attention of thoir clients tho importance of prevention among young children, and all parents and guardians are requested to comply with the suggestion that every child should be protected against this malady.
