Carlisle Roberts, of Columbia, a law student at the state university, and William S. Bethea, of Latta, a Wof-ford college senior. Miss Ruby Smith, girl cashier at a movie theater in Greenville, R. L. Dickinson, her brother-in-law, and Walter E. Bolen, are under arrest for the robbery of the box office at the theater1 last week, staged as if by bandits. Wallace McBurney ,Sloan, whose funeral was held at Columbia oh Wednesday afternoon, was the last surviving attache of the famous Wallace house, and a former mayor of Columbia for two terms. He died the previous night of double pneumonia. He was born in Pendleton 7(9 years ago, and went to Columbia in 1865. He studied law, but went into merchandising instead of practicing, but soon after was appointed chief deputy internal revenue collector which place he held for two terms, and then was elected to the legislature. Later he was in business, and agent for the Seaboard railroad at Columbia, and then was in the internal revenue office again for 18" years, lie saw Columbia revive into its present condition, for he arrived there a few weeks after the city was burned. f TAX RETURNS.
