MOON VALENTINE TEA The Sunshine Club of Hebron Baptist Church was host to their friends and fellow worshippers at a Valentine Tea on Sunday. The tea was held in the church dining room immediately following the morning service. Mrs. Helen Crawford, club se cretary, registered the many guests who came to enjoy re freshments and the fellowship of the club members. Mrs. Lenora Fleming is pre sident of the club. USHERS UNION The monthly meeting of the Ushers Union was held at New Hope AME Church in Mountville on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. Mr. Henry Price presided over the session during which the 10 mem ber choirs sang selections. Use 600 to 800 lbs. of 8-8-8 or 10-10-10 fertilizer per acre or two lbs. per 100 running feet. If you do not have strawberries now is the time to plant. These, in turn, can pi into the washer as needed. CATTLE LICE - If your catUe have hair rubbed off, the chances are they have lice. Call County Extension Office for specific re commendations. EXTREMELY HOT soap or de tergent suds will help to keep sil ver as shiny as a jewelry store window. Little if any polishing is necessary for silver that’s used every day, and washed regularly in hot suds. A scalding hot rinse makes silver dry faster, and speeds up the final buffing with a soft dry cloth. Lake, Long On ETV Program Two state senators who represent a district which includes | Laurens County will be featured on ETV programs next week. State Sen. John D. Long HI will be a guest on “Legislative Profile" Monday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. on the South Carolina ETV net work. State Sen. Robert C. Lake Jr. will appear on the program Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. Sens. Long and Lake repre sent District 5 which includes Laurens, Newberry and Union counties. Channels 29 and 39 serve this area with ETV programs. * * * Elise Carwile responded. Mrs. Lillie Sturkey serves as secre tary. The next session will be at Love Baptist Church in Whit mire. SYMPATHY EXTENDED Sympathy is extended to the Le wis J. Knighton family of South Bell Street in the loss of his mother, Mrs. Cora B. Knighton of Rock Hill. Clardy, Miss Emma Pitts and Wesley Crawford Jr. ON DEAN’S LIST The Dean’s List of Allen Uni versity includes the name of Miss Sandra Fuller. The dean’s list is made up of students who have maintained an average of B for a given semester. Miss Fuller, a freshman, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Fuller of North Bell Street. Rev. Peter Moon Sr. was guest speaker at New Hope Baptist Church in Charlotte, N. C. on Sunday morning. The pastor at the church is Rev. McMorris. After service, Rev. Moon was the dinner guest of Mrs. Mamie E. Young Reese and family. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY «» William Mims celebrated his 10th birthday on Saturday by in viting his friends to his home on South Livingston Street. Upon ar riving there, they were e-eeted in a “Happy Birthday” atmos phere. His mother was assisted in the serving of refreshments by Miss Yvonne Martin and Mrs. Douglas McCoy. William was the recipient of many useful gifts. He is a fourth grade student at Martha Dendy Elementary School and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mims. Miss Doris Suber of Newberry spent the weekend with Miss Bethsheba Watts on South Bell Street. Mr. Robert P. Little has re turned to his home on Evans Drive after a stay in Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. He is re ported as doing fine. Mrs. Ethel Lois Wilson and children of Washington, D. C. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ki- nard in Joanna and Mr. and Mrs. Casey Wilson in the city. Since being here, a son Derrick has been admitted to Bailey Memorial Hospital. We are hoping for him an early release. Mrs. Alice Pruitt, a teacher at Martha Dendy Elementary School, is recuperating after a stay in Bailey Memorial Hospi tal. Mrs. Benzena Gills of So- perton, Ga., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casey Wilson on South Livings ton Street. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Drakeford attended Homecoming activities at Benedict College in Columbia' on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe A dams visit ed her mother Mrs. Olivia Sal ters in Columbia on Saturday, While there they attended the Homecoming activities at Bene"- - diet College.
