Coach Little reports the iNm to be in good physical condition and has looked good In spots during practice. How ever, he is uncertain how they Will be under pressure. At present, the starting line-, up has not been decided. The competition is keen at all pos itions, with severat new boys battling lettermen for starting berths. At left-end, Roger Miller is battling letterman Roy Suber. Michael Darbins and Leonard Robinson are pushing Johnny Peake. Herbert Suber and Lonnie Owens are giving Hay ward Bowers and Larry Bobo ti fight for the guard positions. Willie Priestly and James Harley are about even at cen ter. Quarterback probably has the keenest competition with Willie Burnside, Sam Jones •nd Jesse Richards fighting It out. Tackle and halfbacks aeem to be the strong posi tions with Joseph McGee 200 pounds and Roosevelt Wilson M8 pounds. At left tackle, James Gary, 188 pounds, and William Young, 180 pounds, at right tackle, will be stal warts for Coach Little. Her bert Thompson, Walter Moore, Arthur Martin, Goggin Spann and Cleophus Moore give good speed at halfback. Morris Kln- ard and Robert Gary are neck and neck to start at fullback. Quarles Licensed By Local Church James William (Bill) Quarles, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Quarles, 503 E. Fergii 1 son St., has been licensed by the Davidson Street Baptist Church to “preach the Gospel as he may have opportunity, and to exercise his gifts in the work of the ministry." The pastor, Rev. M. Floyd Hellams, presented the certi ficate of. license to Mr. Quarles during the worship service, Sunday, Aug.’ 21. To the young ministerial student of North Greenville Baptist Junior College, the pastor spoke words of praise, en couragement, and admoni tion. During the seven-year his tory of the church two other young men have been licens ed to preach. They were Rev. Shannon Long and Rev. Cope land Whitmire, given license on Aug. 6, 1961. Also, on Oct. 1, 1961 the church voted ap proval of another of its mem bers, David Cromer, to enter Southeastern Baptist Semin ary as a ministerial student. All three are now serving pas torates, Mr. Long in Ken tucky, and Mr. Whitmire and Mr. Cromer in North Caro lina. School District 56 School Lunch Menu Week of Sept. 5-9 1 ! Nabors Passes Sunday Marion J. Nabors. 45, of 605 Ferguson Street, died Sunday at 6:15 p. m. at a Lexington rest home after an illness of two years. A lifelong resident of Lau rens County, a member and elder and former deacon of Providence A. R. P. Church, he was a veteran of World War II.
