Mix a paste of Hour and water thin enough to be pick ed up in a medicine dropper, if the bulge in the panel* is at a seam, gently lift the edge of the paper with a paring knife and squirt paste under neath. If the bulge is in the middle of a sheet of paper, puncture the paper ai th" top of tjie bir'ge so that the tip of the medicine dropper can be inserted. Rub the area gen tly with a damp sponge or clotf'n to smootih the paper and remove the excess paste. Q. How can I prevent thc formation of a “skin” over my freshly-mixed starch solu tion? A. After you’ve prepa-cd your starch, cover the bowl with a piece of cloth stretched tight. Q, Hw can I improvise a padding under my carpets ii I don’t have the real thing? A. \Yijth several layers of newspaper. One excellent fea ture of this kind of padding is that moths detest the smeM of printer’s ink! Q. Do you have any sug gestions tor dnaling with scorch on cottons? A. This is sometimes remov-. able by wetting the spot first with water, then covering with a thick poste of starch and water, letting dry, then using a clean cloth and peroxide to sponge it off. Press the ar ticle again, and hang in the sun for several hoursL Q. How can I clean shrimp quid'ly and efficiently? A Tiy using a toothpick on this chore. Slip the pick un der the fine black thread a'ong thc back of the shrimp and lift it off in one piece. Using a knife for this job of ten spoils the shape of the delicacy. <L Is there something I can do about a mirror that has acquired a scratch in the coating on its back? A. One usually effective re pair can be effected by smoo thing a piece of aluminum foil over the back of the mir ror, a piece the size of the scratch then coating over this with pla n shellac. Q. What is a quick and easy and economical way to wax a Ir’oleum floor? A. Try scrubbing it with very hot water into which ,n candle has been shaved. Tins is a good way to use up those old candle stubs. Be sure all these shavings are melted be fore you start. Many other such handy hints are included in my new household manual now on the market. <1. How can I make bright iy-colored fabrics stay bright when washing.?, V •+ A. You can prevent jtheir graying if you’'l add a Ihble- spoonful of v negar to. the next-to-last rinse. Q. How can I i revent a mir ror from constantly fogging up? A. By applying a thin film of soap with a moistened fin ger, then polishing the glas^i off with a soft cloth or cleans ing tissue. Q.
