BOGAN Mrs. Russell Dean and chil dren, Adair, Russ and Kevin, of Powhatan, Va., returned to their home the first of the week after a two weeks visit with her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Prank Phil lips. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Murphey of Buffalo, were last Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy. On Sunday, Rev. and Mrs. Olin Martin, Leonard and Juanita attended a birthday dinner in Conway honoring the former’s father, Baker Martin. Enjoying the all-night singing in Spartanburg Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bragg, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Motes, Mrs. J. H. Wallenzine, Mrs. R. B. Smith and Michael. Mr .and Mrs. Bob Thomas, Jill, Buzzy, and Eddy, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Chandler, Mrs. Jennie Hazel, Tommy and Jerry visited Mrs. Ray Brewington in Laurens on Sunday afternoon. RECORD HOP Miss Mary Rogers, along with around 34 friends, enjoyed a rec ord hop last Saturday night at her home on the Whitmire High way. Her sister, Pat and mother, Mrs. J. Z. I have gone out with a few women in re cent years, but was never se rious about any of them—until I met Jane a little over a year ago. We have gotten along swell, and I thought he liked me a lot. But when my birth day came last week, I found out differently. All I got from him was a friendly greeting card. I thought for sure he would give me something per sonal, like a bracelet, or a necklace, or a compact. His thoughtlessness has hurt me deeply and I haven’t been my self since my birthday. Then I finally met another nice young man. When we began to date I told him frankly about the experience I had had, and I made him promise to keep our relationship strict ly on a friendship basis, that I wasn’t ready for any more love. Well, he surely has kept his promise, and now I'm get ting tried of all -this . friendship business. In. other words, I have fallen for him hard, and I’m sure he feels the same way, but doesn’t dare to break his promise. So how can I build a fire under him? TOO MUCH FRIENDSHIP. We’re very happy to have him with us, because he’s a fine boy and never has siven us any trouble or worry. There la, however, one thing that bothers us about him. Ije has been out of college and holding down a very fine position as an architectural en gineer for two years, but never during these two years has he contributed one penny to our home. We aren’t exactly in dire need of the money, al though we just about make ends meet with our present in come. So far we havent’ men tioned anything about his pay ing board to us. From 20 to 25 per cent of his salary would not be too much to pay or all the ser vice and comforts he has been getting for free.
