Barksdale, of 203 Far ley Ave., 73, who died Saturday, were conducted at Kenedy •-Mortuary at 11 a.m. Monday by Dr. Robert S. Cooper. Burial was In Laureps City Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Laurens County, son of the late Downs C. and Kate Bolt Barksdale, he organised and at the time of his death was presi dent of the United fasurance Agency and Palmetto Building and Loan Association of Laur ens. He was secretary of the Laurens Chamber of Commerce- many years. Barksdale Field, the local air port, was named in his honor. He was a charter member of the Lakeside ^Country Club, where he war dub golf cham pion many times. He was a vet eran of World” War I, having served in the Army, and was a member .of the First Baptist Church. He was married twice. His first wife, Mrs. Esther Pitts Fowler Barksdale, died in 1928. Surviving from this marriage are two daughters, Miss Esther Barksdale of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Paul Wilkinson of Bart, lett, m. ’ Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Ruby McKown Barksdale; a sister, Miss Lucia Barksdale of Laurens; and two grandchil dren.
