The bride’s gown was made of floral design Alencon lace ap- pliqued on organza over French imported silk net. The molded bodice with its portrait neck line and abbreviated sleeves fea tured re-embroidered lace and seed pearls. Tiny self-buttons fastened the elongated back bod ice from which soft fullness ex tended and formed a graceful chapel train. The bouffant skirt ringbearer. The father of the groom serv ed as best man. Danny Lewis and James Lewis, brothers of the groom, M-Sgt. Denial P. Dudley, uncle of the bride, Jerry Lewis and Melvin Lewis, cousins of the groom, ushered. A reception was held in the Social Hall of the church. When the newlyweds left for their wed ding trip, the bride wore a white and gold dress with matching jacket and hat, a part of the wedding trousseau, designed and made by the bride, white acces sories and the orchid from her wedding bouquet. Mrs. Lewis is a graduate of the Woldrop home on Sherwood Drive. A pink motif was echoed in ar rangements on the buffet table and individual tables. The hostess remembered the honor guests with a gift of sil ver and a book of poems. • • • Two summer brides-elect, Miss Melanie Martin and Miss Mary Elizabeth Horton, were honored with an informal morning party Tuesday, June 9, given by Mrs. A. C. Young, Mrs. Marshall Brown and Mrs. Locke Simons at the home of Mrs. Young on Huntington Road. GERALD PENNINGTON JOHNSON BYAHS-IOHNSON VOWS AT JOANNA Miss Eugenia Clark Byars and Gerald Pennington Johnson were married by the Reverend James B. Mitchell at 8:00 p. m., June 5, in the Joanna First Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Byars of Laurens Street. She is a senior at Winthrop College. Mr. Johnson’s parents live at Kinards, Route 2. He is cooected with J. P. Ste vens Company in Rock Hill, where they will live at 1009 Syl via Circle. Miss Ginger Byars, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Other attendants were Miss Bar bara Johnson of Charlotte, N. C., and Mrs. Charles Thomas Lewis, Lafayette, Tenn., sisters of the bridegroom. Miss Jane Huggin of Gaffney, Miss Carole Giles and Miss Corinne Broom, both of Cow pens, and Miss Veda Jester of Columbia. They wore dresses of aqua green silk or ganza over taffeta featuring beU- shaped skirts with floral edged panels attached in back, and cap sleeves. All carried pink sweet heart roses with white back panels of haidclipped lace, emphasizing the staright front gore. Her triple-tiered veil of il lusion was held by a Juliette cap of matching lace edged with irri- descents and seed pearls. She carried a white Bible, gift of her church organization, the YWA’s, topped with white rose buds. The bride’s mother wore blue and the bridegroom’s mother was gowned in pink, with both wearing white corsages. After receiving their wedding guests, the couple left for the Entertained mountains of North Carolina and At Tennessee. They will be at home rurueb after June 14. McGowan, Lewis Rites On Sunday At Joanna Church Joanna—Miss Wills Rae Mc Gowan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Theodore O. McGowan, was married last Sunday after noon June 7, to John Richard Lewis, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis. The Reverend James B Mitchell read the double ring service in the presence of a large assemblage of friends and relatives. Held at Joanna's First Bap tist Church, the 4 o'clock rites included music by Miss Jennie Rae Surratt, organist, and Harry E. Bolick, ID, vocalist. Mr. McGowan gave his daugh ter in marriage. The bodice of her gown was fashioned of chan- tWy lace with scalloped cameo neckline and empire waist with wrist-tapered sleeves. The lace and tulle tiered bouffant skirt featured a lace panel in front. Her French illusion veil was at tached to a princess crown of matching lace and saad pearls. She carried a lace covered Bible, a gift on her tenth birthday from her parents, topped with a white orchid. Miss Jackie Dudley attended her cousin as maid of honor, wearing a jonquil yellow street- length dress fashioned with cap sleeves and scoop neckline. The bodice was of Venice lace and the circular skirt was made of nylon organza over taffeta. Her matching halo hat held a circu lar veil and she carried two 13 at the First Presbyterian Church. The bride’s table in the dining room was covered with a white lace doth over white organdy, and centered with an arrange ment of pink roses and bhie cornflowers in a silver contain er. In the living room were two smaller tables also centered with miniature arrangements similar to the one in the dining Other atendants were Mrs. Elaine Dudley, aunt of the bride, as matron of honor. Miss Mari lyn Sense, Mrs. Susan Pitts, Miss Veda Jester, and Miss Miss Martin was given a gift of silver, and she and another bride-elect. Miss Joanne Todd, both were remembered with cor sages of small white chrysanthe mums. • • • Miss Martin was entertained again last Thursday mondng, June 4, at the home of Mrs. Lon nie McMLilian, who along with Mrs. Earlo Horton, gave a coke party for about 94 of the bride- elect's friends. Magnolias, gardenias, and mixed flowers were used in the party rooms. Centering the din ing room table, covered with a white lact doth, was an ar rangement of magnolias. Light morning refreshments were serv ed buffet-style. Miss Martin was given a gardenia corsage, and a gift of crystal by the hostesses. • • • Mias Martin was honored with a luncheon at 12:M on Friday, June 5, at the Poinsett dub in Greenville. A white color note was feautr- od in table amaigements of daisies and gypeophilia.
