Mrs. Alma Harvey and grand children Beth and Betty Jean Harvey spent the weekend with their daughter and aunt, Mrs. J. W. Turner and Mr. Turner in Greenwood. Mrs. Jessie Austin of Union spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Smith. A3-C and Mrs. Rufus Edmunds and daughter Chrystal of Tam pa, Fla., have been spending a fifteen day furlough with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ed munds and other relatives. Mrs. James Campbell and Mrs. Maxie Wallenine were Saturday shoppers in Greenville. Mrs. John Dickerson of Spar tanburg spent the weekend with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Clarence Hinson. Misses Judy Ellis, Sandra Mills and Janice Goss spent the week end at Myrtle Beach. Mrs J. H. Seay and Miss Fer- oline Seay of Greenville have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Seay. On Sunday Mrs. Royce Smith of near Laurens and Mrs. Gary Brissie and children of Greenwood visited the Tram mells and Seays. Lynn McGee spent the past week in Woodruff with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Yar borough. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith and family of Fountain Inn were vis itors Friday of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Smith. The children remained with their grandparents while Mr. and Mrs. Smith were in Greenwood fol lowing the death of her father, F. A. Herring. Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Moyer and Donna of No E. Whitmire. The R. E. Whit mires and Mr. and Mrs. Allen White and children were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lollis of near Honea Path. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Callahan, Mrs. Alma Callahan and Mrs. B. F. Vanderford of Union were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Vanderford. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Bratcher were called to Geenwood Wednes day morning of last week be cause of the death of her sister- in-law, Mrs. L. E. Culbertson. Patti Carroll Has Party In celebration of her 4th birth day on August 27, Patti Carroll was honored with a party on Saturday afternoon at her home. Fifteen little friends were pres ent to enjoy an hour of fun to gether. The beautiful pink birthday cake was cut and served with other party refreshments. Patti, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Carroll was re membered with many gifts. P. J. Frank Pearson and family former New Ellenton pastor, will move this week to Lydia as the Lydia Church of God pastor. HOBBY CLUB TO START The Lydia Mills Hobby Club directed by Miss Nellie Osborne will start classes on September 10. These classes will be held each Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:30. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Whit mire and Mr. and Mrs. Wade Smith of Fountain Inn were Sun day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. R Three Die of TB In Laurens, Greenwood Three people died of tubercu losis in Greenwood and Laurens during 1962, the Tuberculosis and Health Association has reported in releasing figures published by the State Board of Health. Two of the deaths were in in Greenwood County and one was in Laurens County. The Greenwood deaths were 1 white man and 1 negro man. The one in Laurens was a white woman. Throughout South Carolina 108 persons died as the result of tu berculosis during the year. Of these 40 were white and 68 were negro. Circle To Meet Wednesday The Kathleen Walker Circle will Meet Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Ae Church for the State Mission meeting. All members are urged to be present. Baptism Sunday Evening There will be a Baptismal Service Sunday evening at the Lydia Baptist Church at the 7:30 p.m. worship hour. Fifth Birthday Celebrated Seventeen little folk gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs Keith McGee on August 30 for a party to celebrate Cindy McGee’s fifth birthday. Outdoor games were enjoyed before being invited into the din ing room for refreshments of ice cream, cup cakes and Pepsi Colas. Centering the refreshment ta ble was a beautfiul doll cake. After singing “Happy Birth day” to Cindy and enjoying the refreshments, Cindy opened the many birthday gifts given to her. Culbertson, died Wednesday at 3:45 a.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Louise Brown, 3008 Reynolds St., in Greenwood, after a long ill ness. She was born in Laurens Coun ty, daughter of the late D. W. and Lydie Simmons Coats. She was a member of Lydia Mill Church of God at Clinton. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Dorothy Jean Harris of Greenwood; a son, J. E. Culbertson Jr., of Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Brown and Mrs. Nell McCrey of Green wood; a brother, Willie Coats of Pensacola, Fla ; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed Thursday at 4 p.m. at Durst Avenue Church of God by Rev A. A. Padgett, Rev. C. E. Mc- Abee, Rev. W. J. Leslie and Rev. W. E. Moody. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery at Coro- naca.
