Miss Pranceen Smith of Char lotte visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith over the weekend. Saturday she was in Like City, S. C., where she was the only attendant to Miss Edith Harrington who was married Saturday. Franceen and Edith were room mates at Winthrop College. Rev. and Mrs. C. J. Sexton were in Tyron, N. C., Sunday. Rev. Sexton preached at the Try- on Pentecostal Church. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Claude Farmer over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Spivey of An derson, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jester and daughter of Joanna, and Mrs. Clifton Farmer of New berry. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Brazil! and daughter of Raleigh visited relatives here over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Hames visited their daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lorance Peace in Honea Path Sunday. David Owens remains ill at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. J. N. Creswell is a patient at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Major and family joined Mr. and Mrs. Ho mer Tommie of Mountville, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hamilton of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Patton of Calhoun Falls for a Labor Day picnic Monday at Lake Greenwood. Mrs. W. E. (Sadie) Quinton re mains a patient at Bailey Memo rial Hospital. Rev. and Mrs. Bud TumbUn of Anderson visited Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tumblin over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Wilson of Abbeville visited Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Wilson during the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Adams and Mrs. Bill McLendon were On Tuesday afternoon, August 27, Mrs. G. H. Major entertain ed ten little friends of her daugh ter, Laura, in celebration of her third birthday. Each guest was given favors of horns, balloons and bubble gum as they arrived. After an afternoon of fun and games the children were invited in for refreshments of birthday punch, ice cream and cake. Twenty eight guests enjoyed refresh ments of cokes, hot dogs, chips, and cookies. Nancy was celebrat ing her 13th birthday. SHOWER GIVEN Mrs. Belle Hames, who will en-, ter the hospital for heart surgery September 12, was honored by friends last Thursday night, Au gust 29, with a surprise friend ship shower at the community building. After several appropri ate games the guests were served refreshments of a salad plate, cookies and drinks. Mrs. Hames was the recipient of many nice gifts.
