Patti Carroll Has Party
In celebration of her 4th birth
day on August 27, Patti Carroll
was honored with a party on
Saturday afternoon at her home.
Fifteen little friends were pres
ent to enjoy an hour of fun to
gether.
The beautiful pink birthday
cake was cut and served with
other party refreshments.
Patti, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Preston Carroll was re
membered with many gifts.

Three Die of TB In
Laurens, Greenwood
Three people died of tubercu
losis in Greenwood and Laurens
during 1962, the Tuberculosis and
Health Association has reported
in releasing figures published by
the State Board of Health.
Two of the deaths were in
in Greenwood County and one
was in Laurens County. The
Greenwood deaths were 1 white
man and 1 negro man. The one
in Laurens was a white woman.
Throughout South Carolina 108
persons died as the result of tu
berculosis during the year. Of
these 40 were white and 68 were
negro.

Fifth Birthday Celebrated
Seventeen little folk gathered
at the home of Mr. and Mrs
Keith McGee on August 30 for a
party to celebrate Cindy McGee’s
fifth birthday.
Outdoor games were enjoyed
before being invited into the din
ing room for refreshments of ice
cream, cup cakes and Pepsi
Colas.
Centering the refreshment ta
ble was a beautfiul doll cake.
After singing “Happy Birth
day” to Cindy and enjoying the
refreshments, Cindy opened the
many birthday gifts given to her.

FORMER RESIDENT PASSES
Mrs.* Ruth C. Culbertson, 58,
wife of L. E. Culbertson, died
Wednesday at 3:45 a.m. at the
home of a daughter, Mrs. Nancy
Louise Brown, 3008 Reynolds St.,
in Greenwood, after a long ill
ness.
She was born in Laurens Coun
ty, daughter of the late D. W.
and Lydie Simmons Coats. She
was a member of Lydia Mill
Church of God at Clinton.
Surviving in addition to her
husband are two daughters, Mrs.
Brown and Mrs. Dorothy Jean
Harris of Greenwood; a son, J.
E. Culbertson Jr., of Greenwood;
two sisters, Mrs. Grace Brown
and Mrs. Nell McCrey of Green
wood; a brother, Willie Coats
of Pensacola, Fla ; and five
grandchildren.
Funeral services were conduct
ed Thursday at 4 p.m. at Durst
Avenue Church of God by Rev
A. A. Padgett, Rev. C. E. Mc-
Abee, Rev. W. J. Leslie and Rev.
W. E. Moody. Burial will be in
Bethlehem Cemetery at Coro-
naca.
