By their action yester day the bill, a good one, will re main shelved until the session of 1898. We have read with much in terest the introductory chapter of Gen. Gen. Edward McCrady’s his tory of South Carolina and simply desire to say that, if the work as a whole is as admirable as this first chapter, it will be a splendid con tribution to historical literature. Gen. McCrady should have every possible encouragement. In fact it ought not to be necessary to say this.
