A petition was presented in the Honse ot Representatives, recently, by General Butler, and was referred to tho Cora mitteo on . the Revision of the Laffo. 1 It is in Gorman and English. The petitioners deBire the abolition of I the'Senate, because it ia only a copy of. the ariotooratlo English Houso^of Lords and other monarchies, and pray that the1 powers now vested in it be] transferred to the House of Represen? tatives*. jToey also, want the office of! President and Vioe-Prosident abo? lished, and their reipeotive powers vested in an exeoutive counsel of seven members, to ,be separately chosen by the House of Representatives, and to bo jointly responsible to that body! and , bo eubjoob to its dismissal; bIbo, that article fifteen of the amendments j to the Constitution be amended by in? serting the word Vsex" after the word "color;" nnd finally, that no import iaht law bei enforoed until it is sanc? tioned by a majority of the people. The severaity of the extremely cold weather is said ,to have played bavoo with the birds of the air and the water fowl. Thousands of crows have been starved and frozen to death. They have also been found blind, unable to navigate from loss of sight, and help? less from oold and want of'food. This blindnesa is caused by the starved birds pioking each other's eyes out at night on their roosts, where, in their reduced state from hunger, they fight with' desperation, and practice in ex? tremity a. sort of fierce cannibalism on each btaer. Many wild ducks have been captured, stupefied and starving. Labial luxuries figure rather conspi? cuously in the Tilton Bee eher tourna? ment. TtltonandBeecher were aeons* tomed to salute each other with a kiss; Henry Ward, we believe, kissed the mutual friend whose .hand tied up the storm; and now Mrs. Moulton says that oho once kissed:Beecher on the forehead' in b spontaneous burst of feminine sympathy evoked by his manly tears.
