An Important Degree ?Iu lue case of A. T. btuatt & Op. vs. Charles Ker risou, assignee, Judge Bond, in the United States Circuit Court, decided that the judgment of A. T. Stewart & Co. vs. Kerrison & Leidiog is a valid and subsisting one, and that they are entitled to be paid out of the proceeds of such of the real estate of the bank? rupts as it was a lien upi a, according to its priority. The Court further BS d: "While the Oonrt refuses to set aside this judgment on aooount of the irregularities complained of, it cauaot refrain from'saying, for the benefit of the profession, that in its judgment a Slea to the jurisdiction of the District ourt at Greenvillo would have been well taken. That Court is not a Cir? cuit Court. Neither the Chief Justice rvf the United States nor the Circuit Judge, who are required by law to bold Circuit Courts, can hold or assist in holding tbo District Conrt for the Wiesteru District of Sonth Carolina. That Court held by the District Conrt Judge has Oirouit Court powers within the territory prescribed by law for its jurisdiction, which auy person legally entitled may invoke at pleasure, but there is no authority at all for remov? ing causes originally brought in the Circuit Court of tbe'United States to that Court, against tho consent of parties, except in oertain criminal oases at tbo instance of the District Attorney. I am aware that the prac? tice to do so has prevailed for some time, bnt it has produced great confu Bion and has no wurrsnt in law." A Ciuoinnati youth, who parts his hair in the middle, made a slight mis? take at a theatre in that oity the other night. In order to obtain a oioarer perception of a high note by a singer, be reached in hie ooat-tail pookot and brought forth what he thought was an opera glass, bnt what proved to be a revised compilation of Derringer. People in his immediate vioinity were surprised and somewhat frightened to see him elevate the ordnance to his eyes and steadfastly gaze down into its dark caverns of death. It was, npon first impression, thought to be a oool, deliberately planned Buioide, but when he quietly put it back in his pocket and brought the real article into requi? sition the horror melted from before their eyes, and it beoame apparent that it was only a mistake after all. A few hairs whose beat lay on the lar? board side of the young man's Bkull had by some moans gotten on the star? board side; henoe the slight aberration of mind.?Boston Advertiser. Youthful Duelists.?The Oxford (Pa.) Press is informed by a corre? spondent that a shooting affair oc? curred in Fawn Township, York County, on Saturday last, between two boys, aged fourteen and sixteen years of age, sons of a colored man named Stephen Young. The boys had been Running daring the day and were fjund in a dying condition iu the evening, near their homes, with gun BhotB in tbeir heads. How it happened was not known, as tbey never spoke after being found, and the supposition is that tbey quarreled and shot each other, as their bodies were found abont twenty feet apart. Each of them had been shot in the left temple. The jury rendered a verdiot accordingly. "And now," complains the Omaha Bee, "the barbarians of the East refer to our female population as 'Oma hens.'"
