Tremfidi, an English woman, and a poetess, seeking admirers for her genius among the dusky hued sons and daughters of this and other climes, has come to grief in Washington City. The papers are full of the affair, and the tender oreature has given vent to her over-wrought feelings, not in poesy, but in profanity, we had almost said, but that may not possibly be ex aotty accurate. At any rate, the fair daughter of song, or mother, (which? ever is the correct expression,) cer? tainly did some swearing, for she swore to the out rape before ono Thomas J. Shea, Notary/'Publio. Well, all we have to say is that a white woman who holds social converse with negro men upon the door steps, may swear and swear profanely, too, without injury to her oharaoter. Commenting upon this occurrence, the Washington He publican says: |fc"Wbile Congress is deliberating what IB best to be done to protect our native-born citizens, wo have a case right to the point in this oity, occur? ring in tbu experience of a native of Grout Britain. Mrs. Evangeline Treuifidi, a Friend and the daughter of a life-loug friend und correspondent cf the late Senator Sumnor, n lady who has a poem which sho has written to deliver to his memory, has been eject? ed from her bourdiug house, for in? viting u respectable colored geutlcmau, who minister* to one of the Methodist churches in this city, into the parlor long enough to take his name und number. Other gentlemen sbo has been compelled to receive ou the front? door Bteps of her bourdiug hotiHe, among them Hon. Mr. Bus*ett, United States Minister to Hay i.i. We chroni? cle the event, and leave it to speak for itself." Like tho Republican, we leave tho event to speak for itself. Tax Levy. RlOHLAD County.
