It is hereby made the duty of each and every County A iditor in this State, on or before the fir., day of April, \ Joly and October, 1872, and January, 1873, and at the same time on each and every succeeding year thereafter,, to make and deliver to the treasurer of his Oounty a duplicate list, and, at the samt time, transmit to the State Auditor an abstract of the returns made to bim un? der the provisions of this Act. It Bhall be the duty of the treasurer of each and every Oounty in this State, npon the receipt of the first quarterly instalment of the sum or sums ap coi fled to be paid G pon any ooou patton ur business under the provisions of this Aot, to give to the persou, company or corporation paying the same a certificate to the Auditor of his County, specifying the sum paid, and the occupation or bu arness on which the sumo was paid; and said Auditor, upon presentation to bim of suah certificate, is hereby authorized and directed to ?SSQO to the person, or company or corporation presenting ths same a liconse, authorizing him or them to oarry on or conduct suoh oconpation or business for the period of ono year, from the first day of April: Provided, That the quarterly iustulments hereto? fore provided for shall be paid wheu due, or such license, no issued, shall become null and void; for the issuing of which license said County Auditor shall receive tho ?um of twenty-five cents from the person, company or corporation receiv? ing the same as compensation for taking tho returns aud issuing the licenses pro? vided for in this Act: Provided, That any pe mon, oompaDy or corporation who may oommeuco uuy of the occupa? tions or businesses specified io this Aot after the first day of April, A. SEO. 16. The County Treasurer of eaoh and every Oounty shall pay, dr causo to be paid, monthly into tue Stat? Treasury all moneys received by him under the provisions of this Aot, and the State Treasurer shall receipt therefor to Oounty Treasurers, in the same man? ner as is provided in Seotion 102 of an Aot entitled "An Aot to provide for th? assessment and taxation of property,'* passed the 15th day of September. SEO. 17 Any person or persons carry? ing on or con ducting any occupation or business named in this Act, without having first complied with its provi? sions, shall be deemed guilty of a mis? demeanor, and upon oonviotion thereof, it hall be sentenced to pay a fine not Isas than double the amount of license im? posed npon such business or occupation, aud be imprisoned in the jail of the County in which such offence is com? mitted for a period of not less than six months, or either or both, at the discre? tion of the oourt; and every company or I corporation carrying on or conducting any occupation or business named in this Act, without having first complied with its provisions, shall be fined in a sum not less than double the amount of liconse imposed upon such business or occupation, and the Attorney-General and Solicitors are hereby authorized and directed to take all legal proceedings necessary for the collection of such fine. !
