General Wimpfen sur? rendered McMahon's army of 120,1)00 excellent and well armed troops who were defeated and forced to surrender, though they had tho fortifications of Sedan to co-operate with them. Ono miscreant, Ij'ing with a broken head, boasted that tho wounded had had their tongues cut out; and a boy of sixteen first robbed a Prussian soldier and then gouged ont his eyes.
