The Charleston Cotton Market. There was an active demand for the staple yesterday, with sales ef near 200 bales, at very foll and, in some eases, advancing prices; but the latter was not sufficient ly general tor us to quote the market higher. We, there? fore, renew our quotations of jesterday : Strict Middling.31 Middling.30 Savannah Market. SAVANNAH, August 16.-UOTTON.-During the past week the cotton market bas been dull, prices ranging principally from 27 to 32%o. New York Middhn? has been quoted 'ecently at 3tto, and to-day the same quality has been offered at 31 % to S2o The g:ueral estimates of the approaching crop ran ge fr >m 1,800,000 to 1,900,000 bales, and planters generally expect to realize about 30o per lb for Middlings. It is now a mai ter of certainty that there will be very little cotton in the South if the old stock on the 1st day of September next. If the estimate of tn e crop as given above shall prove to ?e correct, estimating tho currency on the basie of its present value BB compared with guld and sterling exchange, it appears highly probabl.. that the average price of middling coitou during the next twelve months will not be below 26 -o 30c. per lb. As soon as the stocks of ootton, however, beaiu to ac? cumulate at ih-j p<rta, c .nsumers and speculators taking advantage of tho n- cessitios of producers, will use every effor? to depress prices, and will probably succeed teni|.orarily. lb" south being comparatively bare of capital, aud there not bdiug the usual baukiue facilities atelier ceutres of trade, such an effort will prove more successful than it possibly could under more auspicious cironms'ance*. Ihe demand f?r bacon, cort and provisions, general? ly, will be larger than lor auy j ear previous to the Lt? war. Reference, is made to the demand for supplies to be drawn f. om New York, Phi'addphia, Baltimore, and other Nortauru cilios. Prioes :or provisions will there? fore continue high, as also for bagging and r jpe. lt is hoped that after the present year, the system of labor will be so regulated at the bouth by wiso l?gisla? tion, that the planter at the beginning of each year, will be able to calculate, ?Ith some de *rce of certainty, what will bo bis financial condition at its termination. NEW ORLEAN8, August ll.-The market opened 'this morning with only a moderate inquiry. ?nd notwlth standing factors showed increased willingness to realise and a disposition to make further concessions, still the sales were confined to about 900 bales, in duding allst of 160 purchased late in the ev? ulrig. We have no ma? terial change to no tico in prloes, but, on the whole, the advantage wa? on the side of buyers, particularly with /regard to Low Middling, the outside figures for whioh -we red?celo, while te inferior grades were attended -with continued irregularity.
